I don't know anything about how these work but, is there some reason why you couldn't use your Alinco 2 meter HT to call for assistance? Maybe have someone relay a message to your wife to come pick you up?

Another "Murphy's law" problem. My antenna or HT or both, weren't getting out. I couldn't hit any repeaters. No phone, no radio and I wasn't about to leave my Polaris sitting in the forest. We made it out and this will never happen again.

Glad you made it out safe and a little wiser.
I'm sure we can all think of something that we did that we lived to reget it.

Two great stories. I REALLY like the way the encounter with the "parts guy" played out.
