Default First Time to Carry in public.

Today was my first time to carry in public. All I can say is that it was nerve racking. We went to the grocery store and to lunch. I was so self concious, and thought that ererybody was staring at me. I was frequently adjusting my shirt, worried that I may be printing. My wife assured me that I was not printing.

I know that it will become more comfortable to carry, but I just wanted to share this so others may take my experience, to help them be less paranoid on their first time.

Right.

I know it's hard, but try to resist the urge to keep adjusting your shirt. That does draw attention to you, and specifically to that area you don't want people paying attention to.

After a while you will find being DISarmed will be weird feeling, similar to leaving home and discovering you don't have your wallet.

Congatulations Sir and welcome to the fraternity of CCW Holders.

Carry as often as you can and anywhere you legally can.

Once you have a CCW, carrying a firearm should become a part of your state of "Normalcy".

You should get to the point where carrying your firearm is a regular part of your routine.

The instances where you do not or cannot legally carry should become the exception.

As a CCW holder, going out of your way to avoid a confrontation should also become a part of your state of "Normalcy". By doing this those instances where you may actually need your firearm will become less and less prevelant because you have avoided them.

Consequently if the time should come that you actually do need your firearm it will most likely be at a time and/or place that you have not prepared for or were unable to avoid.

CCW holders, as a group, are entrusted by the authority that issued their CCW and are in fact held to a higher standard with a greater expectation that they will not violate the law.

If one of us does not do the right thing it can reflect negatively on all of us.

Thanks,

Poogsdad

Congratulations to her. Get her online with this fine group. Thank you all for the kind words and advice. I'm looking forward now to the day when carrying is second nature.

Only if you're not using it to draw attention away from your butt.
