Default Applying for a CCW License in San Francisco City/County

San Francisco has had no more than 10 permits out at a time between 1987 and 2005. Most, if not all, are very likely issued to retired law enforcement/judges/prosecutors.

In short, don't bother. Move, if you can

If you're still interested for some reason, here's some more info:

San Francisco SFGov: San Francisco Sheriff's Department

Sheriff Michael Hennessey

City Hall, Room 456
1 Carlton Goodlett Place
San Francisco, CA 94102

Phone: (415) 554-7225
Fax: (415) 554-7050
Email: sheriff@sfgov.org

Even if you have already been shot, and you get a certified letter from the guy who shot you saying he's going to do it again, that won't get you a CCW from Sheriff Hennessey.

The City and the County of SF are the same land area, but the city has its own police department:

SFPD

under Chief Heather J. Fong

I guess she has issued about ten permits to retired judges and prosecutors only.
