General information for Shasta County CCW's

This information is from the CCW packet that I received from the Shasta County Sheriff's Department.

The Shasta County Sheriff-Coroner is Tom Bosenko.

Requests for a CCW application can be made by phone at (530) 245-6025. I received my packet the very next day. I've called the department more than a few times with questions, and have spoken with Candy each time. She has been very informitive and helpful. Any contact I've had with the Shasta County Sheriff's Department has always been pleasent and professional.

You must be a minimun 21 years old.

You must be a U.S. citizen.

You must be a resident of Shasta County for 1 year prior to applying. Residency is shown with a valid CA drivers license or CA ID card, and two utility bills, in you name and address (No P.O. Boxes). Have one bill for the current month you apply and one from the year prior (originals only).

If you served in the military, you must provide a copy of your DD214 at the interview.

No felony or serious misdemeanor arrests/convictions.

No history of, or current treatment of mental illness.

If additional info or documents are requested by the Sheriff's Department, you are responsible to provide them.

If you are are currently named as a plaintiff or defendant in any type of restraining order, you may not apply until these court orders are fully expired.

You must have proof that you have completed a certified CCW training class with in the last two years.

CCW Fee Schedule

Finger printing service: $95.00
Concealed Weapons Permit: $60.00
Total: $155.00

This fee is non refundable in the event your application is denied.

Bring the following things when you return your applicaction to the Sheriff's Department.

Handguns to be listed on your permit (up to 3).
guns must be unloaded, in a locked box, and magazines out.

Two utility bills.

Your completed application.

Your certificate documenting your completion of the required firearms training. Certificates must be less than two years old.

Military Veterens, bring your Form DD214.

Intreviews for CCW applications are conducted from 8:00am to 4:00pm, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

CCW info an application is available on the Sheriff's web site. The application cannot be completed on line, but it can be printed, hand completed and then turned in.
