We have an Advantage Arms kit for the glock 17/22/34/35 frame guns...
It is ultra reliable if you feed it good ammo... Rem. golden bullet is the cheap stuff that works... mini-mags too... but not cheap... it is extraordinarily sensitive to ammo due to the light weight but large slide... most .22lr guns have small slides etc... I imagine the kimber guns are ammunition sensitive too. We are very pleased and use it frequently including as an instructional tool where you want the gun to make loud noises every time you turn it on... jams are very frustrating for new shooters... we are very please and the 260.00 retail price of the thing was considered to be a very good bargain. I think if you buy a 45 gap for instance... you can't afford not to buy an advantage arms kit... if you have a 45acp..then you might want to just shoot full power ammo as it isn't priced at conficatory rates as is the gap which is less common or that's my opinion anyway.... The fun factor is another reason to buy... the kits are reasonably accurate and for fun in the desert or on a range where plinking is encouraged, not much beats a .22lr... I first became interested in the advantage arms kits when I visited a range in Indiana. They rented advantage arms equipped guns as their rental .22's. Now ranges make their money selling ammo and you have to sell alot of .22 ammo to make any money... they were firm believers in the advantage arms guns, claiming they were ultra reliable so that their clients could shoot alot of rounds out of them beteen cleanings. Ours has been cleaned once out of about 1500 rounds or so. And then only because I had guilt when I was showing it to someone so I cleaned it. So... that's my opinion... I wouldn't call it an expert opinion, we have only used one kit, but we have used it alot and for what it is worth, I will probably buy an advantage arms kit for the govt. frame sometime this year... if the budget allows....and I don't buy that smith 45 revolver I have been drooling over... ![]() ![]()

If you have a 1911 pattern pistol, I can recommend the Kimber .22 Rimfire Conversion Kit.
Here is a review I did on one a while back: http://www.calccw.com/Forums/range-r...html#post53280 El Gato is correct. It is very ammunition sensitive, however, that can add to it's training value by creating periodic malfunctions while shooting that many, if not most shooters never practice clearing properly. Thanks, Poogsdad |
