I'm glad that you posted your findings on the combination lock COM case.
For that information alone, Iwill buy you a plate of wontons . . . . and Thai ice tea.

I'm about to order a 2 of the new combo locks and they are no longer on the website. Anyone know what happened to them? I guess I'll have to give them a call in the morning.

They are being voluntarily recalled because the plastic lock is too fragile.

Oh well... I guess I'll keep on using the old one and save some $$.

Thanks!

Thats correct. The first 4 re-designed 2nd gen models are being sent to me to replace the 1st gen ones Beano and I bought.

Once they arrive I will update this thread.

They will not be on the website until the updated ones are ready to ship.

UPDATE

Received another email from C-O-M.

They are not making the combo lock boxes because the quality is a piece of junk and they tried upgrading parts and its still junk.

It was a good idea, just crappy parts were used.

Back to adding more keys to my janitor key chain

I have to complement COM for their integrity. They sent me two keyed lock boxes and a prepaid return label. That's standing behind your product.

Yep. Patrick is business man and he takes care of customers. Just needs to try the product before sending it out

BonoVox got our keyed boxes and a shipping label a couple of weeks ago.

The combo lock safes seem to be back on the web site. Are these the new redesigned locks? If so, has anyone tried them out? Mike?

you don't want it....they re-designed it using a harder plastic.

My .02......but the locked boxes. they are perfect and have no defects.

The combo locks are all plastic mechanisms and such a crappy design and they are still using nylon which will break, bend and will be so easy to pry open w/ a screwdriver. Even the owner emailed me awhile ago with this...

Mike,
New boxes will be inbound to you next week.

We made a mistake by putting the combo lock on the web before we could do our own detailed evaluation of them. They were only available for less than a week and we pulled them off the site. There are some product improvements in the works now to reinforce them a bit more. Once that is done they will be better, the next run these will have even more improvements made on them to make them even better. If I personally had control over it, these would have come with metal shafts, not Nylon. However the next runs will have a reinforced Nylon shaft and who knows, maybe it will be much better.

Thank you very much for your candid and accurate feedback on these. Personally, I had a similar reaction but mine contained more colorful words to describe them though.

Got it. I had read the previous posts, but thought that they were not selling any combo boxes until they squared away the lock situation. I will be ordering the key lock models. Thank you for the clarification!

you got it buddy!

They re-did them with everything the same except the latch a re-inforced nylon. That was only one of the issues that it was going to snap.

when a gun is in the case. the combo buttons would not move. I had to use a screw droved and really push the numbers to even move.

then to turn the plastic handle to open, it felt like it was going to break off, it wouldn't move and once I got it to move I thought it snapped to only find the lock mechanism bent inside.

So you will be happy with the locked ones. I was bummed because i have so many keyes, the combo lock was a great idea. Too bad its garbage.

I hear ya. I was just looking at my key ring and was amazed at how many I have collected. My wife saw it and her eyes went wide. Time to get rid of what I don't need.

You're right, the combo is a great idea. Just needs some refinement. Hopefully they are working on that as we speak.

Regardless, I appreciate the help!
