Don't recommend +p ammo due to the increased recoil. This might cause a flinch in your shooting because it isn't consistent with the 180 grain range ammo's recoil.
You have no idea what you are talking about.

How come a 45 ACP performs great at 925 FPS? It's a combination of BOTH.

In a short barrel G23 there is less recoil because the bullet exits the barrel so fast. Check the charts.

Hollow point bullets are designed to work within a specific range of velocities. It is possible to get a HP bullet moving so fast that it loses effectiveness. When it comes to shooting Standard or +P rounds, I shoot whatever I can be effective with. As an example, one of the pistols I shoot will digest 230gr standard pressure rounds just fine. If I shoot +P with it, the only thing I notice is that recoil feels a little snappier. Unless there's a big difference in recoil, I'm not all that recoil sensitive. That being said, I prefer practicing with the .22LR because there is some recoil (I know gun fired) and I can see my results down range with the added bonus of a fairly cheap day at the range. This does not mean that I do not practice with my larger bore pistols though.

CCWI made a good point about the G23. You would be wise to listen. He really does know his stuff.

Smartest thing you've said since you've been on the board. If you'll go back and read some of the archives, you'll find that we have experts from several industries here. They know things from inside the industries that you don't read in a gun rag. They also know things about bullet performance that you won't see in the news.

There's small, then there's absurd.

RD doesn't pack smaller than 22 WRM.
