I recieved a weekend-long 'crash course' on the subject from my old Platoon Sgt. who just happened to be a former Ranger Instructor who said pretty much the same thing in more colorful terms.

In the end, its best to avoid a knife fight whenever you can. Either that or fight dirty and get it over with as fast as possible.

Carry a gut shooter!!! Something DOJ approved.
Knife fight is about who can bleed the longest!!!! Unless a vital area is punctured!!!!!

my cdp ultra is my gut shooter.... so... I dont have to pull the BG close and plunge into his neck while he is slicing and dicing elsewhere!

If you check out Emerson Knives website, you'll see that they do make "left handed" production runs on some of their knives.

Since my day job prohibits "weapons" on the premises I only have the Leatherman at 4 o'clock and the cell phone at 9. (I had one strong discussion with a guard about whether the Leatherman is a weapon or a tool, fortunately my manager liked me a lot and said pliers are tools, end of discussion.)

Now, in the evenings, the Leatherman goes into the right front pocket and a S&W 640 (soon to be replaced by a Kahr PM40) goes at 4 oclock. One of these days I'll get a thinner phone that can fit in a pocket, and put that in the left rear pocket. I probably use the Leatherman 5 times a day.

I'll also admit a heresy here: I don't carry a reload.
