I just bought my first knife in several years last week, a Kershaw Blur. I was surprised to see how knife technology has progressed since I have a couple 20 year old Buck Folding Hunters that have been in my dresser drawer through several moves.

I can also recommend the Kershaw Blur. I bought this one to replace an old Spyderco. It has been an almost constant companion for over a year now, it normally resides in a jacket pocket. I do occasionally carry it in a pants pocket as well:

Thanks,

Thanks,
I wish I'd had a choice of colors. Mine is the same color as my Christmas thong!

I think I may have been in a similar position 30 years ago. It's odd how things can change your spending paterns.

Any Microtech knife would be good.

I have the LCC Lightfoot manual version with part serraded blade. The knife is a tank if you can find them still.

They are bit expensive but the best knives I have held as far as lock up and quality.

I also have a vector auto but dont carry it very often for obvious reasons. I would say that if you want to spend under $200 go with a vector manual and you will be happy for sure. The steel on these knives are amazing and thick and the lock up is super solid.

Well, but maybe I do! See, now it may be a guessing game as to what color knife I have, or not.

I have a couple of the Kershaw's and I really like the Assisted Opening and the durability of their knives.

Also....some Walmart's carry the older Kershaw's and they are 20-30 cheaper than online stores.

They have the same one Poogsdad posted.

Try this one for $39.99 from LA Police Gear. It's got a full hilt when opened. This is a flipper that can be either: easily flipped open; or; opened while drawing, when knife is carried tip-up in your pocket (just be careful.)

Knife laws are almost more confusing than the gunlaws. Not to mention, the two have totally different definitions for "Concealed". As I have come to understand it:

A knife in your pocket that has a portion visible, such as the upper part and the clip, is not concealed.

A firearm in your pocket that has a portion visible, such as the grip showing, is considered concealed.

I carry a cheap Gerber...

I carry a Benchmade 710. It is nice and slim, fits well in my pocket. I have carried it every day for several years now.

I have the firefighter's version of this with the red handles. The handle material is very coarse and wears holes in pants pockets after a few months of use. Otherwise, I love the knife. I'll just keep it in a case with my rescue gear instead of as a daily carry.

Thanks,
You can get these at Wallmart for either $49 or $59. I forget exact the price. I own one and like it a lot.

I am a little scared of the spring assist knives though. From testing it and reading the law, I think this will pass. But not so sure an officer on the street would agree.

My current carry knife is a Buck Model 198 Mantis.

What I really want is a Cold Steel Caledonian Edge Folding Knife

But that's another story.

Too bad the WWII fighting knives from Van Adestane, Scagel and Bo Randal are frowned upon ....
