I was just on the COM website and found their new "Pac Safe." It looks as if once the lock is in place, it can't be opened/accessed until the lock is removed. Can anyone see a reason why this wouldn't be acceptable for vehicle use? It seems the same to me as a locked gun rug.

Yes it is acceptable. More importantly no LEO will be confused by it either.

On a whim, I ordered one of these from COM.
Overall, it's pretty well made and very nice. Folds up for storage smaller than the metal lock-boxes they sell, but seems like it would be plenty secure enough for most purposes. The locking mechanism takes some getting used to but looks reasonably sturdy; however it's based on a 1/4" steel braided cable, so a strong pair of cable cutters would get right in. It would certainly deter an opportunity snatch but wouldn't resist a dedicated attack; however, this is pretty much the same as the COM hard-side safe - and the lock on those is much weaker than the padlock provided with the PAC-safe. Overall, I'd give it an 8/10. It's easily as secure as the COM hard-sided travel safe but folds up smaller for storage. It'll come with me on my travels for sure. |

I've been wondering what to use for travel and securement. This looks like it fits my bill perfectly! Thank you for posting this!

With thefts from checked luggage on the rise this actually looks like a great way to transport jewelry and the such inside your suitcase. Just find a place to lash onto.

I got my pacsafe this weekend. I didn't get the "free" additional cable though
I concur with libertarian, it's a pretty stout little bag. Flexible, lightweight and compacts pretty well. When I need to disarm I can just take my whole ankle holster off and stuff it in the bag. Anything that lets me not have to touch the gun gets a +1 from me. I give it a 9/10 ![]()
