Thanks everyone for answering my questions but I think I have decided not to carry it. It looks like there are more knife laws then gun laws. Also if a cop saw me and decided to charge me with a misdemeanor or even a felony it would ruin my chances at a ccw. So I think I will wait and apply for my ccw. Also I guess it doesn't matter how big the knife is if someone sticks a gun in your face.

You are 100% right about not bringing a knife to a gunfight.

Why not carry a combat folding knife in the meantime? I carry a knife always no matter whether I am carrying a firearm or not.

I would link more sites about carrying a knife but I am blocked here at work because of our web filter.

Carrying a knife should be second nature and I believe everyone should do it. A good knife is a tool which when needed it is difficult to find a substitute.

I think he started this thread by saying he carried a Kershaw folder, IIRC.

Good grief, this is not CALKNIFE.com, could we please lock this damn thread? Mods? Please!?

I've always carried a knife ever since I was a kid. I sometimes have a hard time remembering when I'm at one of my daughters school functions to take it out of my pocket, and leave it in the truck! Funny how I can carry a gun at school, but not a knife....go figure????

I'm sorry I didn't mean to cause any trouble.

The case I read, which is a Supreme Court case, had slightly different facts. The police claimed defendant had his shirt out, that the shirt covered his pocket, and sticking out of the pocket was a "dirk or dagger" [it seems that it was originally a letter opener]. Defendant claimed his shirt was tucked in. In any event, the rule is that if the dirk or dagger is "substantially concealed" ther is a violation. For reference, the same case defines dirk or dagger as a fixed bladed knife or a folding knife in an open and locked condition that is "readily available for use as a stabbing weapon." Remember, as the article says, folding knives in the paocket are legal, as they are not "readily available," and all unconcealed weapons are legal, even if a dirk or dagger, as long as it is unconcealed, or in a scabbard or sheath.

So get yourself a good short sword and you're all set! (Swords are damned difficult to conceal.)

Default Sabers are too long

Nah, they get caught in the narrow aisles at WallyWorld when your're there buying ammo! A nice gladius hangs straight up and down, is easy to draw quickly, and is absolutely devastating at short range.
