Default New CCW Weapon

Flashlight Weapon Makes Targets Throw Up
Monday, August 06, 2007

Quote:
It looks like a big flashlight — but it's really a nonlethal weapon designed to make you sick.

Intelligent Optical Systems, Inc., of Torrance, Calif., has been granted a contract by the Department of Homeland Security to develop what it calls the "LED Incapacitator," according to a DHS online newsletter.

The handheld device using light-emitting diodes to emit super-bright pulses of light at rapidly changing wavelengths, causing disorientation, nausea and even vomiting in whomever it's pointed at.

"There's one wavelength that gets everybody," says IOS President Bob Lieberman. "Vlad [IOS top scientist Vladimir Rubtsov] calls it 'the evil color.'"...
Wonder what the permit will look like..

I could think of some other really neat situations to use this in . . . .

I checked one of these out the other day. Has a strobe setting that is very disorienting...or at least it was on the guy I was working with. I can see it being very useful.

LED Lights - Handheld - Gladius

If you had to use it, it wouldn't matter if it were, or how it was concealed!

What if the victim closes his or her eyes when it is flashed towards them?

If it's bright enough, I think it may not matter, as the light will penetrate the eyelids. And even if not, if the person attacking you closes his eyes, that's good for you.

Putting a big one in a police chopper might be a good way to stop high-speed chases.
