Default Light musings

so.... at one point or another someone way up above and in power said: "Let there be light".... and the manufacturers went forth and created plethora of light giving devices. What am I getting at? I am looking for a light... small to medium, handheld/pocket size, bright and...cheap

So.. I got a streamlight SL20X. Nice light.. but about 50% too long. I got an E2D defender, E2L outdoorsman and 6P Surefire.

So I'm looking for something cheap and bright and reasonably sized. Any suggestions?

If you want cheap and good (not great)... look at CREE. They are made in China but are not copies. Cree is a High Output LED module manufacturer that also make LED flashlights and OEM for quite a few US and European manufacturer. Cree Flashlights are not the best (still cannot compare to Sure Fire or Streamlight)... but they are good and are cheap.

Mr. Punk... That's 20 million candlepower... not 200 million candlepower... Such a light would vaporize me in about 20 milliseconds...

I love my Leatherman Monarch 500. Stainless Steel case, brighter than my maglight and it fits in my pocket. I have used it for two years now and all my other flashlights have been retired.

Forgot to include the link on the Monarch 500. Mine appears to be SS but the website says they are anodized aluminum.

The Fenix LD20 is very bright... it has become my searching type light for work ... uses AA batteries and is a nice compliment to my Surefire 300 megatorch mounted on my combat tupperware....and it has an S.O.S. feature for when I get lost in the wilderness... I mean temporarily disoriented ...

+1 on the Fenix lights. I own a bunch of them, and they're pretty darn well made. The NiteCore SmartPD D10 is a good one too, if you want something really small and still pretty bright, try the Fenix P1D or the Quark 123.
