Default Surefire vs Streamlight vs.....

So far it seems like everyone here is using surefire lights...any thoughts on streamlights? Any other good brands?

I have an M3 on my G23 (night stand gun) and I really like it, but other than that, my experiences with Streamlight have been less than stellar.

The only tactical lights I have are Surefires: X200B (wide beam) and a discontinued Military tac light for my Glock 35 long slide; both with pressure switches. I'll post up pictures of them later.

The X200B is very light (wieght-wise) and simple to attach. It's LED, so you're getting a very high and wide beam. The X200A model emits a narrow beam. But for close quarters, the B version will light up the whole room. I can't wait until Surefire comes out with X200 with a laser combo; rumor has it, it'll come out in the end of this year.

I also have the 200B on my XD40 which is my bedside gun. Like Greg Dawg says, it will light up an entire room.

I have no "tactical" lights... however, my GLOCK does have a rail for one. I doubt I'd NORMALLY use a gun/light combo like that. If I were to have a dedicated bedside gun, then I'd probably have one, but then I'd have to sweep anything I'd want to ID with my muzzle... Right now, I'm sticking to a separate flashlight, and I can shoot decently well one-handed.

I have one surefire the 6P that I bought at the LA gun show back where there was a gun show there....so its been a few years and I think its a great light....I did notice that a well known firearms instructor who has a thundering ranch has some deal with streamlight...but it seems most still use surefire.

My thoughts are:

Any flashlight that will take almost NO damage from a gunshot has my vote. Thats why I like the surefires.

Not saying others won't, it's just I was able to see the surefire with my own eyes.

I've had over a dozen surefires and a few streamlights. I like both. Surefires are really tough and they look great and performs great. Streamlights are not as pretty but just as tough.

If your after the disposible battery models, I go with surefire. But on the rechargeable models... I go with streamlight. Surefire rechargable models only charges the battery pack on a special surefire charger which means you have to take apart the flashlight and charge or swap a charged battery pack. Streamlight rechargable, the entire flashlight is snapped into the charging cradle which makes it 100% fully charged and ready to use. The standard package comes with BOTH 12V charging cradle for the car and a 110V charging cradle for the house. I think streamight also offers one charger packages now and that'll save you around $15 from the complete package with 2 chargers.
