My limited experience of the G 30 has been less than favorable. Of the two I was around one was sent to Glock and they sent him a new gun because it wasn't repairable. When it was returned it was sold without shooting it. The other fellow sold his after rebuilding it a few times.

Pretty much 0 for 2.

I'm sure they are good guns though just these two weren't.

Good luck

Why not a G36?

Default Glock 27

I was very impressed with the 27, shooting .40S&W the recoil and muzzle flip was much less than the Kahr in 9mm!
I received my CCW almost 2 weeks ago and have carried my Glock 27 every day since. I also listed an S&W 4006 in 40S&W but it is much heavier than the Glock and it only lasted a 1/2 day before I switched. I am still looking for a better holster (Milt-Sparks is on order) but I love the 27. My first Glock, but I shoot it well and it feels good without the extension. I wouldn't bother with the extension. If you can't fit another round into it, then either learn to shoot it without, or pick a 10 round 40 that you can shoot well. The short grip has kept me from being made on several occasions. I chose it because it has the most capacity in the smallest package in the largest caliber. It balances all these well. Ask to put them in a holster IWB while comparing at the dealer.

Go for the Glock 27, then when you can afford it, order a Kimber Ultra CDP II in 45 ACP. The two guns will show that you are appreciative of both camps.

This is a poplular grip alternative for people wanting to get a secure hold on their small glock but don't want something longer like a Pierce Extension grip. Those who use them swear by them...they allow you go lock in on the grip w/out adding much length:

I have the Pierce extentions on all 3 magazines for my Glock 30, I think they are the only way to go. Because I won't have my CCW until the end of september I have yet to carry the Glock 30 enough to provide a experienced opinion but so far I am very happy with it but my wifes Glock 26 is definitely more concealable.

I have a G30 in a Comptac Settle Cant OWB holster, no modifications/add ons except a set of Trijicons, and it's loaded with Federal HST 230gr. +P.

Remember that for optimal expansion out of the short G30 barrel, you want to get around 900fps. At least, that's what I learned in my research. At first I was under the impression that I would need 180 or 200gr. rounds, but 230+P has been consistently chrono'ed by guys on GlockTalk at the right velocity out of the G30.

Federal HST and Winchester "T" in 45 are set up for a plus or minus of 186 FPS for optimal expansion.

I also have a G30 and a PM9. I have no problem concealing the G30 95% of the time in shorts and a t shirt. A good holster and a good belt are a must though. I currently use a IWB C-TAC, and while it does a god job, I am waiting for a Garrity. Of course, the PM9 just drops into a pocket for those quick trips to the store or those times whem maximum concealment is imperative.

+1 ... for me the extension prints like hell. The G27 conceals well especially with the Galco Royal Guard IWB I just got. It rides high for a nice grip but presses the gun into you so you don't print - though it takes a few days to get used to it!! Sort of like when you first started carrying IWB.

The Ultra CDP II will probably be my next buy, I need a 1911 to round out my collection and it might as well be one I can put on the permit and carry.

Default I Have A Glock 30

The Glock 30 is a great gun. Saying that, it is a heavy pistol to carring for a CCW. I know that some of the die hard Glock funs will roll the eyes with me saying this. But I just purchesed a S&W MP 40 cal. and have falled in love with how it shoots and how it feels I know it does not have the stopping power that the 45 cal. but it was to the point that I was not carring my Glock and what good is it to have CCW with out carring your gun.
