I have an XD40. It's the only Tupperware I still own. It's a fantastic shooter, reliable and accurate, but I'd never carry it. My personal preference is for more than a grip safety.

I have never shot any of the XDs. I have shot most of the Glocks and own a Glock 23, 26 and 36.
I also own the M&P 40 Compact. I LOVE it! I have about 600 rounds through it with ZERO problems. The grip fits my hand like a glove. It will fit yours too as there are 3 different sized back straps you can easily change. Recoil is VERY mild as compared to the similar sized 40 S&W Glock 27 and even the 9mm glock 26. Only slight negatives. Trigger is just ok "can be tuned nicely" and magazines are expensive at about $38 a piece. What the heck...reliable, top performer and American made! Can't go wrong!!! Newbie here, but I love my XD 40. It will more than likely be my number 1 choice for carry.
I like it because it is VERY simple. No extras to worry about should the occassion arise. No safety to turn off. Grab, squeeze, repeat if needed. I also like the firing pin in the rear, and the "chambered round" feeler on top. I can tell without a doubt if it is ready to fire in pitch blackness. I only have a couple hundred rounds through it, but haven't had a single misfire/jam/etc. Even with the cheapest ammo I can buy ![]() |

I have a full size 9mm M&P. Great gun. However, I'm gonna be selling it after I get my permit. I I want something I can carry in my pocket and I'll need the $ from the M&P to buy the new gun (the other two guns on my permit I want to keep.)
It will be for sale in a few weeks if anyone is interested (a few weeks or whenever I get my permit...just got printed today!) |

I wouldn't own a XD if it was given to me free. The design has some very serious flaws. The M&P is gaining ground in the LEO market.

Contact Irv Stone at Barsto Precision. The last time I went public with this, people got pissed. Even when I had the proof from Springfield.
I'm not doing it a second time.

I don't know what Gerg has in his pocket... but from my range gun experience, I would not want to own an XD myself if I shoot it heavily. Of course, XD, just like any other range gun, receive a much greater amount of torture from continuous usage. When the XD break (and I have a least a few range XD gone through the same route), it's usually the trigger system, not sure if a spring in the trigger transfer bar or something else break, but it's a guarantee SENT-BACK-TO-SPRINGFIELD type of failure, because trigger won't return to allow you to pull the trigger and release the slide, and firing pin is roll-pinned in place so you can not go the other route (remove back plate) to disassemble your gun either in case such component failure has occured.

Mr.Hoser!.That is exactly what I did too! If it is too big to carry....Sell it! Enough with "safe queens" and "big clubs", if it can't dance.....good bye!...... |
