Listen to the gun talk radio episode with Robbie Leatham from the NRA convention ... he talks all about it...new barrel... smaller grip frame circumference and different backstraps... re-contoured slide/frame and they fixed some of the problems with the XD... I think you don't have to pull the trigger to dissasemble anymore or something...
I'll get interested when they have it in a 5 in. 45 acp or a 10mm ... not the short and weak version either....
Ok maybe a 38 super or a 9x23...
well maybe a 40sw or 9mm...
BUT FIRST THE 45!

The backstrap can be changed and it appears to be thinner than the XD.

I noticed every word they describe the gun starts with an "M".

I hope they got rid of that lockup problem that occurs with the XD when you rack the slide and the backstrap safety is not fully engaged.

I just finished watching the videos online. It is pretty nice. no trigger pull to field strip, adjustable palm swells similar to M&P, grip has special non slip design, different ridges on the slide for easy racking, different sights then XD, trigger pull is different, and a really nifty carrying case

If the take down procedure is different now, maybe there's hope....

My gun collection includes an XD 40... I was shooting and training with it exclusively for awhile, then about a year ago put it aside to work with the plastic blasters from Glock...

Recently, I supplied all the guns for range visit with several family members and brought the "old" XD out or retirement. Everyone else grabbed the Golcks, Colts and Kimbers, so I shot the XD... and I was reminded why I liked the darn thing.

Yes, the trigger pull is different (I remember thinking as I released the trigger after the first shot... "Will it ever reach reset???) And yes, the whole potential to lock up when stripping is maddening as heck... But... But... The darn thing shoots really well.

To save targets I was shooting at specific "spots," taking out the little green men one body part at a time... (Shoulders, elbows, etc..) using the little numbers on the target as my "10-ring." And darn it that XD took out the numbers within about 3 rounds more times then not...

Like must guns, it shoots a heck of a lot better then I do... But for some reason, I seem to shoot it better then some of the others in my collection...

I'm not ready to swap it for the Kimber or one of the Glocks on my CCW... But it will be joining me more often on visits to the range...

And, I will be looking forward to hearing more about the new "M." Who knows, they may have this one dialed in right.

I think I would. I had issues with my XD 45 Tactical, but I would be willing to try this one.

Default XD-M in ICA

It's not available in California, guys. It'll shot when the magazine is removed and we Californians can't live with that (or can't die because of it???).

I have two XD's, a Micro-compact and a 4" both in 9MM. My favorite range guns. They had it at the recent gun show and I shot a few rounds with it. I liked it a lot but, oh well. And I don't think Springfield will re-cast it for California but ... here's hoping.
