Default Breaking in the XD

Okay so today was my first visit to the range with my new XD .45 5" tactical. Shot 250 rounds of 230g hollow point with no jam. Barrel was smoking to all hell and my thumbs are a little sore from all the reloading but the gun never jammed was flawless.

Oh and my aim was horrible for the first 100 rounds. but whats to be expected haven't fired a pistol in over 6 years.

Hey, I can relate...I hadn't fired a gun in 8 years when I took my first class here...forgot how painfull reloading can be.

You can get magazine assists for reloading. they work really well, especially if you have a low cap mag and need to reload a lot.

A nice smooth gun. I had one until last week. (XD 45 5" Tactical) Easy to clean, too. Enjoy it!

Yeah I had to reload 25 times. I was fine on every mag until I hit round 9 and 10 and those two are what work the thumbs raw lol.

Dis you use it? Are your fingers STILL hurting after using the reloader also?

Yes, I sold it to a buddy to finance a Kimber and a HK USP. Nice smooth gun, if you like the plastic guns.

Yeah no kidding, I just bought a new Sig and there's nothing like reloading a new STIFF mag 200 rounds every time I visit the range ... talk about a raw thumb!

Actually it does. My S&W 6906 has large cap magazines which are LEGAL for ME to own and use because I owned them prior to the ban. I can posess/own/use them but I can't sell them or even lend them to someone along with the pistol. Which is silly because without them the gun is useless (which may be the point behind the ban ).

AFAIK, the magazines from the S&W .40 fit a variety of different high cap handguns. So, if I had a couple of those magazines from before the ban and they fit a new handgun, I'd still be OK to use them in the new weapon (again, As Far As I Know it should still be OK but I have NOT researched this issue because I don't have any other handgun which will accept a double stack magazine).

Interestingly enough, if I take my handgun to a local gunsmith for repair work HE has to supply a low cap magazine in order to test fire it. And, if the problem is a magazine fit or feed problem, using a new magazine may not (probably won't) solve the problem. Stupid, eh?

My point is that being in Ca is not a blanket disqualification for owning/posessing high capacity magazines.
