I always disassemble, clean and lube all my guns before firing them--at least through the field strip stage. You never know if the factory left a little bit of machining debris behind, and they never seem to properly lubricate the new guns. On old guns it is even more critical to carefully clean and inspect the parts. Just my 2 cents...

What made you like the kimber more then the springfield?

The overall weight and frame size. The height of the Kimber Compact CDP II is only 4.75 inches, while the Springfield XD Compact 45 is 5.00 inches (5.75 with extended mag, which is not allowed in CA). that extra 0.25 inches helps with concealment, if necessary. Overall, I preferred the feel and accuracy of the Kimber Compact CDP II than the Springfield XD Compact 45.

Take down as published, if unable to put back together, take the receiver, hold it upside down, shake it a few times, then keep it upside down and slide it on the assembled slide...... Trick department!
I cleaned mine before shooting, and then every 200 -/+ rounds. Until break in.....600 to 800 rounds. Recoil spring replacement every 1,500 as per factory recommendation. If on extended duty clean feeding ramp every once in a while. That is what I have experienced, so far with this one. Last edited by X-ffdo : 07-07-2008 at 03:33 PM. |

I'm glad to hear your kimber is working well. I just took my new pro carry II to the range, it didn't go so well. It would never feed the first round on the factory mag plus 2 - 3 failure to feeds after that. I think I'll just give it a good cleaning and oil and try again.
Anyone else have any suggestions? |

Yes, I agree. The wife has been using her Canom XTi SLR Camera this whole time. Pics will be up when she is finished with it.
Since having it, I have put about 1150 rounds of ammo through it. I guess I need to replace the recoil spring soon? I am going to the range tonight to put about 100 more rounds through. I love this gun! |

I also had this problem with the factory supplied OEM mag. When I stopped using it and replaced with the kimber Tac Mags, the problem went away. However, I am not sure if it was due to the fact that I replaced the mag, or it was because it was rounds later after the break-in period.

But I switched over to the 1911/O-Frame platform "45ACP" for carry now. Love my Ultra and Compact CDPs!!! |
