I've had my Kimber Ultra Carry II since February - I tried to give Mad Geek the UCII Kool-Aid at Evan's last weekend & I think it might have worked!

UPDATE:
Shot..."IT" again today... about 75 rounds of ball... If it does well with HP rounds... then I guess it is time to order the night sights....

It appears I have joined the Kimber Kult again......He says with resignation and belief that the voices will stop telling him to buy a les Baer....O wait...the voices just got louder...now they are saying that If I am a good little firearms instructor and Probation officer... maybe SWMBO will buy me a les baer after we get back from Thunder Ranch... I shall keep my fingers crossed... not the trigger finger actually...it is more of a metaphorical type of fingers crossed kinda thing...and be sure to keep my clothing off of the floor and reload her a bunch of 45 ammo... Oh that means I have to buy a Dillon reloader to load a bunch of ammo for ....... HER!.....hahahahahahahahaha....says he with a maniacal laugh!

I must admit to some late night snooping at the kimber website..now that I am admitting things.... the Cover II ...... Kimber - Continuing The Legacy
Is looking very cool... too.... the voices say this has to come after the Les Baer though.....

Great choice, that is my favorite gun to carry and shoot.

Well I DROS'd my New Kimber CDP Ultra II yesterday and can wait to give it a new home...9 days to go! This will be my first Kimber and if it's a reliable as my Wilson I'll be one happy camper.

Mr. Cat, if you are down in this area and would like to try a Wilson Combat Protector, just drop me a PM.

I shot Remington 185 gr. +P golden sabers through it yesterday...50 rounds... shot great... accurate enough at 20 yds.... absolutely flawless functioning...good for 50 rounds anyway.... shot slightly lower point of aim which is good as 230 gr ball shoots 6 in. high at 20 yards... these shot about 2 in. high... looks like this is the carry load once I put some night sights on it... probably only a front sight night sight though... Kicks alot more with the Rem's though... alot more... but still very controllable... wouldn't want to shoot 3-4 thousand of these babies through the gun... too hard on it I think.. but the mystique of the little kimber continues to fascinate me...says he as he types with a govt. model sitting on the desk!

I have shot a colt defender 3 inch .45 and like it but have not touch or fired the Kimber UCII. Has anyone have a colt defender and a Kimber UCII and have any feed back if any on both of these guns? --- Ray

Hey El Gato, there might be another being pulled on the dark side (slide). Been looking at that Kimber UCII real hard and its very tempting to go get it tomorrow. Any suggestions, suggestions to fight the pull of the Kimber gravity?? Later --- Ray

I shot the Colt Defender before I purchased the Kimber. It is a nice gun. Accurate. I found the grip to be a bit too big for my hand. I couldn't hit the slide release without changing my grip. And I found the safety to be not as easy to manipulate as on the Kimber.

How did the Kimber shot against the Colt? Did you do any comparison of the two guns? Which of the two did you like better. I plan to shot the Kimber tomorrow and will bring the colt defender for comparison. If I can shot the center mass 3 shot within 3/4 inch within the center at 17 feet with the Kimber like I did with the colt defender, then I will go with the Kimber due to its size to fit my small hand. I am 5' 3" tall and weight around 134 lbs. What do you think Mr. Gimper, am I making the right choice? comments please --- Ray

I did not shoot them side by side, but I preferred, and bought the Kimber. It's a great gun.

Ultimately, it's up to you. No one can tell you which is the best gun for you. Comparison shopping/shooting is the best way to go. Decide which one fits your hand best, which one shoots the best, which one has the features you like, and what you can afford.

The kimber will cost you a bit more, but for all of the extra features you get with it, I think it's worth it.

It really is amazing how addicting those Kimber's can be...in the past few weeks I've had the entire family out at Evan's range - Big brother shot both my Ultra Carry II as well as AMS Mike's Raptor (and a few other non Kimber's too), his favorite of all - my UCII.

Both baby brother & dad also favored my Ultra Carry to the HK USP45 they were playing with. I told them not to get a big head or anything, that the Kimbers makes ANYONE look like a good shooter - & until they can take out a dime on the first shot, I'm still the sharp shooter in the family!
