Thanks for sharing this X-FFDO.

Design flaw at its best.

IF they mandate the padlock/holster idea, fine. A firearm with second or third safety SHOULD be mandatory as well.

hint hint. O-Frame!

Astoundingly stupid! That lock on the holster idea is totally a disaster waiting to happen. I liked the way the guy explained it too, very reasonable and calm, yet pointing out how unsafe the TSA policy is.

just repeated the scenario with a Sig 229 and a De Santis O1L C7 hoster. Yes, it could happen just as explained and demostrated. At first I had some doubt, my holster is pretty well worn in and soft yet it still could and did fire even though the hammer is in the de-cocked position. Learn something new everyday.

It's being talked about on GlockTalk. I took the liberty of adding the video to their (GlockTalk's) thread, X-FFDO.

Details released on jetliner gunshot. Holster for gun also investigated [US Air ND] - Glock Talk

.

I am personally quite relieved... I had been operating under the delusion that lunacy was confined to local level functionaries of the entrenched bureaucracy....county employees.... after watching this video, I have come to realize that we have a super-natural federal government... they must be super-natural ....CAUSE NOBODY CAN BE THAT STUPID NATURALLY!...

I can just see "Bill and Jose" at the TSA office...they have never handled firearms in their entire Washington DC careers so they are the natural go-to people to create a firearms policy...Now our friends Bill and Jose come up with a carefully thought out policy...written in triplicate, posted at an underground subway terminal bulletin board for public comment - in the basement behind a locked door naturally- buried in the tundra for the required 4 month comment period and then implemented in spades after the secretary's signature is appropriately stamped 2 different ways on each policy statement.. and then...and then... just to make it official... they posted it on the internet... it must be a true and worthy thing if it is posted on the internet!

Just watched the video. It looks like it happened about how I figured it would. This video shows that it's possible to discharge a weapon while still in the holster. Actually, some officers have managed to get jacket drawstring toggles into the trigger guard of a pistol and discharge their weapon while simply holstering... other people have done this by inadvertently leaving their finger on the trigger while holstering the weapon... and it appears that the TSA has a holster that effectively forces an object into the trigger guard...

Clearly, to prevent such occurrences in the future, they need to add a shackle-thumbstrap interlock mechanism.

Coming soon, to an FFDO holster near you. Heh.

Amazing, but when compared to this quote relating to Gov't programs, I am surprised we have not seen more ADs with Gov't approved devises....

Brann pointed out that 5,000 collections cases would represent a 4-percent error rate for the Road Home that is "quite good for large federal programs."

This reminds me of the time the Gov't spent three years matching the color of the sand in the Middle East to a rubber compound for a Goodyear water hose. They spent THREE YEARS on it ... this way it was to blend in perfectly with the sand and would allow water to be transfered from one group to another .... then the Gov't realized that according to policy all water hoses must have a blue stripe painted on them .... which they did. They now have 10,000 feet of perfectly color-matched hose to the sand with a BLUE strip running the entire length .... and it is visible from 2000 feet up ... pointing like an arrow to the troop locations .... not sure it was ever used.
