Default Shot my new Kimber Ultra Carry II

Just broke it in this weekend. I found the weapon to be extremely accurate and rivals guns that are 4 to 5". Out of 400 rounds I got about 10 FTF, I noticed that the Kimber magazines sometimes hold the round horizontally and the round is not at enough of an angle to chamber the next round, the followers are a little sloppy and rough, I don't see anyway of fixing the problem other than replacing the magazines. I have heard of people re-building their Kimber mags with wilson guts but these Kimber mags that I have are comletely sealed. Today I ordered 4 Wilson Combat mags and will try them out this weekend to see if there is any difference.

Were you shooting one kind of ammo, or did you try a couple different kinds? Those little Kimbers shoot nice, don't they? You should notice a big difference with the Wilson mags.

Kimberphiles love their guns, but have been known to literally throw away the magazines. Get Wilsons.

I do not have Wilson Combat magazines for my Springfield. I have not had any issues with my magazines and it'll eat everything I've ever fed it. That being said, should I ever develop feeding problems and they're magazine related, I'm going to buy those Wilson magazines.

I use my Springfield only as a range gun right now. If I decide to use it for home defense purposes, I'd go get Wilson magazines for the gun and test it to be sure the pistol and magazines are compatible...

Another hint comes from A Guy, This really helped me eliminate Fail to Feeds that were caused by the magazine. Load the mag and then tap the bottom of the loaded magazine a couple times on the palm of your hand. What it does is makes sure all the rounds are seated properly in the magazine.

I do this with every loaded magazine. No FTF's.

AMS and I shot a brand new Ultra CDP this weekend using above method with Wilson mags. Not one failure in 200 rounds.

I was shooting one kind only; Winchester FMJ 230 Grain (Walmart Special). Yes it shoots really nice, I was expecting a much harsher recoil being so small, but its a very controllable recoil and the stock trigger is very nice too, but after 400 rounds my index finger needed a rest; the ridges on trigger take a toll on it

Keep them for trading stock or loaners.

I've never even used my Kimber mags. I bought 4 Wilson mags when I got my CDP. I had some FTFs, but that wasn't because of the mags. I was overzealous in my cleaning/oiling and it got a bit dirty.

I use my Kimber mags as "range only", if they "go bad", then I toss them.
My Wilsons are for carry, although I do have a couple that I also use for the range.

Im just a helper Greg taught me about the tapping the mags. I'm glad to hear that helped your issue. It really helped me reduce FTF's.

Sealed mags can be taken apart. I've not shoot a kimber mag. Wilson's only.

The price you quoted sounds like plastic bottom mags. Cancel the order and get ultra thin steel.

10 FTF...you are dead, sorry, sending flowers to family.

Hope you can get it fixed with the mag change.
