Default Whats the best 22

Im thinking of getting a good quality 22 to practice with.I then can shoot more at Evans without spending enough money to make a house payment on 45's.What should I look at? As always thanks for all your great advice.

A .22 conversion for whatever you normally shoot.

I agree.

I have been looking at the .22 Rimfire Target Conversion Kit Kimber - Continuing The Legacy to go with my new Custom CDP.

From what I understand, the only thing you loose is the recoil and blast of the .45 ACP, the cost of .45 ACP ammunition, and the slide locking back on an empty magazine.

Manual of arms, malfunction drills, and all manipulations, other than those originating from a locked back slide, remain the same.

Thanks,

A top notch 1911 lower with a Marvel .22 conversion on top. Can not be beat unless you go $1,500 or higher (Walter GSP, Hammerli, etc.).

I have several Ruger 22's all have been problem free but the one that is by far the most fun to shoot is the Ruger Mark III Hunter. Incredible for target shooting. They are onsale all the time at 20% less than retail.

It looks and feels like a CDP.

Your math is apparently different than mine. I figured it would be around $400.00 to $450.00 extra. For another $250.00 I would gladly get the whole gun!!!

Thanks,

While this is a good idea in theory, I bought a Ruger mk. III Hunter when they first came out, and sold it a month later. I'm not the "manly man only shoots manly calibers" guy, but .22 bored me to tears.

I remember the first time I shot it, I had the target all the way back on Evan's public side, or roughly 17 yards. Two new guys were shooting a Glock next to me, and one was slightly more green than the other. Green guy says to his buddy "man, look at that guy's shooting" and less-green says "it's only a .22, it's easy". I stop shooting, load up a fresh mag, and politely offer less-green my gun. I ask to shoot his Glock, which I shot at 17 yards. After we shoot, I smile and say "I hear everything" and returned to shooting. His buddy, green guy, thought it was really funny.

So did I.

I just bought a phoenix arms HP22. its a little 3" 10 shot , cost a whole 140 bucks, but shoots real strait and is reliable. my kids love it. we were shooting a 5 gal propane take at about 100 yards and getting regular hits on it.

I have a Walther P22 in the 5" version. It makes for a very cheap day at the range. It's a tad more expensive, about $300 if I remember correctly, but I've already saved almost that in ammo. It has a nice feel and is more accurate than my G27. I know that there are conversion kits for my .45's, but I do not want to go through the trouble, I'll just leave them as .45's.
