Default The Colt Mustang is back!!

WOW!!

Colt in 2012 is reintroducing their Pocketlite Mustang.
.380 auto
It seems its a complete rebuild and Colt fixed the minor issues they had with the "Baby Colt".
As my friends here know, I own, and carry a 1982 version of The Colt Government Model, Series 80 .380

The Govt model is a bit bigger then the Mustang and carry's more ammo but
THIS IS A REAL NICE PISTOL..

Good job Colt!!

We've discussed this here before, I think. Unless there is some kind of grandfathering (which I don't know about but suspect is doubtful), this gun does not meet roster qualifications for the same reason we don't have the Sig P238--no mag disconnect and no LCI. These actually were to have been released 6/11, but did not hit shelves until September or October, and availability is quite limited.

As a side note, Sig did qualify a two-tone P238 CA for the roster last June, but they don't seem to have shipped any to dealers. It's been a while since I've checked, but I was told the dealers had no word as to when (if ever) this special model will appear. This is the same gun with a different appearance, price is nearly the same, with the Mustang having an MSRP of $599 and the Sig a bit more (but about the same on street price). [Personally I've always wanted one of the Sigs, but DANG that Mustang is a good looking little piece!]

The chamber loaded indicator and magazine disconnect are issues that several firearms models have a problem meeting. I think it is unlikely that these will show up here in volume. Mostly PPT availability from exempt buyers and other "workarounds".

My father has one of the original Mustangs. What a sweet little gun and nice carry piece. Unfortunately if the do become available through ppt or even regular sale in Ca the prices will likely be higher than the $599 MSRP.

I've had one since October when they started shipping. It is not a rebuild, it is exactly the same as the 80"s. You want a rebuilt try the Sig or Kimber.

Well, you can still single shot it, but with them selling for $200 or more over MSRP that is kind of an expensive proposition for an itty bitty .380. Still no word that I know of on the P238, but I got to handle on at my local range last Sunday that is being SSE'd--very sweet trigger, nice package. If the CA model two tone shows up, it should sell for around $700.
