Colt Defender hands down. I love mine. Outside of basic feed and reliability work, I haven't done anything else to it. It will get night sights eventually.

Did you need the feed/reliability work? Before I bought my Defender, I searched 1911forum and m1911.org looking through dozens of threads on the mini-1911's. The Defender was clearly the least problematic out of the box of all the ownership experiences I read through, which was part of the reason I bought one. As I said, mine runs flawlessly.
As far as gunshops in the Riverside area, you might ask on CalGuns because I know they've got a lot of members out in that area.
