Default Springfield EMP?

Anyone have an opinion on this gun or know of something similar? I love my current 1911 TRP, but think it is a little large as a carry weapon. Anyone have the emp? It looks like a great gun with easy concealment...

I handeld it at the SHOT Show in January. Nicely made, very compact and slim 1911. Since it's a 9 it's a no-no for me.
Unless you have a serious problem with the recoil of a .45Auto I would go for a 3 Inch Micro Compact or CDP-II. Just my 2 cents.

Peanutlover is considering one, I know. But I've always felt the 9mm and .40 recoil to be more 'snappy' than the .45, which, to me, is more of a 'push' and easier to control and recover from.

Ok great so I am not totally confused... I was at the gun store the other day and the owner said he didn't like .40 because it was snappy and said he preferred the 9mm. In my head I was like 9mm is the snappiest round I have seen. My preference is the .45 because I feel it is just as you describe and easier for me. I think I will go with the micro or the kimber. I already have a Springfield and love it. Never shot the kimber...

I have the Micro Compact fom Sringfield. It is a fantastic handgun. Mine came with Novak night sights and a nice Ed Brown style beavertail. It works flawless with Wilson mags. Carry it in a Milt Sparks and you can not go wrong.

According to SAAMI specifications the maximum internal pressures are as follows:

9mm 35,000
40 S&W 35,000
45 ACP 21,000

This accounts for the "snappy" part of the equation. When you throw in bullet weight, grip angle...yada...yada, you get the rest of the perceived recoil equation.

I am a fervent CPD fan, so that would have to be my recommendation also.

I had my eyes on the EMP since SHOT show as well. Very nice little gun. But as Glock32 said... it's a 9mm only at this time. But I heard .40 and 45GAP versions are to follow... anyone know more on the release dates for the other cal? Would pick up a EMP .40 in a heart beat if available.

I dont think the .40 or GAP will be offered in CA since it would have to have a LCI and a magazine disconnect to be submitted to the" safe" handgun roster now

Default Emp

I have both the EMP and the Ultra CDP II. Love them both. They are twins except for the caliber. Both very accurate.

I only have about 500 rounds through the EMP. It feeds ball ammo great but chokes on hollow points. I'm told that will get better with time.

Both will be great carry guns in my opinion after the break in.

The EMP was made available for the Springfield day at On Target couple months ago. It's not as reliable as we expected to be (not sure if it has anything to do with gun not liking the reloads we feed it). Also, from other forums the EMP works good with standard 9mm ball or HP, but anything in the +P or +P+ will choke this gun to death...

Time will not polish the feed ramp, throat the barrel, polish the bolt face or tune the extractor. Only a gunsmith can do that.

many of us on this forum carry the Kimber Ultra CDP II. An excellent 45, easily concealed and very accurate

If you are going to get something the size of that gun, you might as well step up to a 45, instead of a 45 set on stun.

I have always been a fan of the Big and Slow. I like MY SA Micro and my Kimber Ultra and compact. All great 45s.
