I have my first class Monday. I was planning on taking a Glock 23, but I've just realized it's not registered to me - I inherited it from my dad and I've never transfered it. I called the DOJ on Friday, they're taking about 2 months to process an intra-family transfer request. Fingerprinting is Wednesday, I don't know how long live scan is taking.
I figure once I get the CCW actually in my hand I'll figure out what to really carry, and get it on the permit. I just don't want to hold up the permit itself waiting for the transfer. So, do I take the Glock, or something less reasonable that IS registered to me? I locked them in the safe 15 years ago and haven't touched them since. Take them all out to the range today and see how they each feel. Have fun doing it. Heh.

The 10 is a very pleasant gun to shoot, I may take it out. I only have 2 magazines for it, but I'm lucky to have those. |

I talked with Melissa today and explained the situation. She ran me through the system and gave me the serial numbers of the pistols that are registered to me.
The only one that are even remotely reasonable for carry are 1) Walther PPK (pre-war) 2) Grendel p10 So I'm going to take the Glock, send in the transfer paperwork tomorrow and live with the delay while they get re-registered. |

Well, it's good to have a backup, but the 76 mm is a little slow to reload.
Turns out even worse than I thought. Mellisa ran me through DOJ, the only pistols registered to me that are reasonable to shoot are a pre-68 Walther PPK and a Grendel P10. There are several that could make good carry guns - but they're rare and unfired (like a S&W mdl 50) So I'm going to take the Walther to the next class and have it be the only piece listed on the CCW, just so there's no delay, then do the guns I actually intend to carry as adds later on. Last night was a hoot - 40 people doing renewals, and 2 of us there for the 16 hour class. |

Usually it is just the opposite. Glad that you had a good time, gives you a different perspective on CCW and the people who do. I guess now is about the time that you start to research your potential pistols etc, etc. Thats the fun part!! ![]() |
