I have 3 16 round tanks from 1992 and treat them like gold cause I cant get them no more!

I'm only security myself but i do take pleasure in bringing more people into the shooting fold.

the grip can be concidered large but my 105lb 16 year old daughter shoots it fine
Thanks...

OK...
I checked out the forums on m1911.org.
After mourning the fact that I don't have the extra 1000 bucks to order a les baer this year, I went ahead and ordered the Tac-five and 4 extra hi-caps. It will be at the shop tommorrow and I can do the paperwork. Unfortunately my chief won't give me a letter to pick it up so I have to wait. I can go ahead and visit it once or twice but won't get to shoot it for a while.... dang...

I will post the results of the shooting session...
when it happens.....

OK... picked up my LDA today... it is the LE only version the Tac-five. Yes it is a 9mm but I have my reasons...

Shot about 150 rounds through it...

No jams... but it was all ball
Very accurate...but will try some bench groups next week to find out how accurate.

The Lda trigger is very interesting... I don't think it is better than the regular 1911 trigger... certainly the Les Baer I shot recently is several orders of magnatude above it.... but it is certainly better than my trigger-job-slick-Beretta 92 or any sig/smith auto I have ever shot.... It is well interesting...after shooting combat tupperware so much, I am not sure I like the lack of a definate point of reset on the trigger but I seem to be able to shoot it much better than I can the glocks I have....

Bottom line... at this point... 150 rounds in.... I sold a kimber 38 super at an obscene profit...after I put a set of pearl stocks on it.....and have no regrets about selling the Kimber... it was a Jam-O-matic even after sending it to the factory and many conversations with them...(I really believe nobody there knows how to tune a 1911 extractor for a 38 super and they have a funkus extractor system so I couldn't trade it out....) I am not sorry I sold it... this LDA towers above the kimber in shoot-ability and certainly ammo costs!

We will see about he reliability after a couple of thousand rounds... I am thinking of taking it with me to Thunder Ranch next year for class as I have about 1000 rounds of green ammo left over in 9mm...

To be continued...

glad to here it worked well, trigger reset is the number one complaint i see on the other sites. I shoot 200 rounds or so through mine monthly and have gotten very used to the trigger. hope to here more about it and even though I have a few old pre-ban mags I'm still jealous about your LE status!

Well thanks... as a Probation Officer, we are the third largest LE agency in Kern County... over 100 armed staff and we are the lowest paid.... and I have a Masters Degree!....so....work for the Sheriff in about any county and you will get paid more. I know some guys who started LE careers in their 40's and love it... The physical requirements for Deputies etc. can be a little tough for us old guys though...
Will post a comment when I do some accuracy testing....who knows, a 45 might be in the offing...

kern, your not to far from me. I live in the outskirt of palmdale. I actually do my outdoor shooting in rosamond. everybody in LEO world is underpaid for what they do and you have a often thankless job.
as I said I work security but for the feds and it pays quite well. I did pass the LAPD exam but failed the credit which is funny considering I got a TS clearance with my credit!

Had the LDA at the range yesterday. Cor-bon 115 gr went 5 shots in 4 inches at 50 yards. Some old 147gr black talon went about the same but about 8 in. low at 50. The BT went one hole at 15 yards and about 2 in at 25 and was very soft shooting. Just line up the sights and make holes in the target... very nice.

I was on a forum with Dane at Burns Custom the other night and he mentioned I could punch our a regular 9mm barrel to 9x23 which has sizzling ballistics.... sounds like a future project! My magazines will hold them and maybe another barrel for 38 super!......

Bottom line... love the gun... glad I sold my Kimber 38 super to buy it!

Default 9X23 Winchester

Just thought I would update: Shot the 9mm para tac 5 again today. We have alot of old 9mm black talon at our department that just "needs" to be shot up/destroyed...alas... I am the only person with a 9mm so the chore falls upon me.... this is really accurate stuff in the para... amazing....

On another tangent... I was in communication with Dane Burns at Burns custom regarding this gun... the suggestion was made to convert the gun to 9x23...I have alot of experience with the 38super....but not the 9x23...

When I was looking at .45s, I tried the LDA Carry (I think that's the name). I didn't like the trigger. It feels like it has a reset point but it really doesn't. I squeezed the trigger and as I was letting it out, there's a point where there is a perceptible "click" just like a trigger reset on some of my DA/SA 9mms. But when I squeezed the trigger again at that point it wouldn't go bang. I had to let the trigger go all the way out before I squeezed it again. I'd spent so much time training myself to use the trigger reset on my other semi-autos, that I figured that the LDA trigger would likely get me killed if I ever found myself in a situation where I needed to defend myself.
