Default Steyr info

Hi guys!

I was asked to start a thread about Steyr's, and so here it is!

I am so impressed with this gun, it's not even funny! I was told (and finally read) that the Steyr "out-Glocks the Glock", and I believe it! All the positive things that the Glock has, this gun has, but none of the negatives.
Every Glock I've ever handled felt like a brick in my hand, this one is perfectly ergonomic!
I can instinctively shoot this gun wherever I want, at whatever target I choose, not so with every other gun I've shot, the closest being the Sig that my friend let me try.

The 110* angle of the pistol molds itself to your hand, becoming an extension of your hand, and I find it so easy to handle and shoot.

The trapezoidal sights take a little getting used to, but I find it so much easier to get on (and stay on) target with them, and I wish I could convert my other gun(s) to the same sights! They work really well!

Here's a couple of links for further information:

The Steyr forum:

Out-Glocking the Glock story:

They also have some of the finest customer service you will find, and an outstanding warranty.

Here's a pic of what mine looks like:

Please let me know if you have any further questions, I'll do my best to answer, or point you in the right direction!

Paul

P.S. Their rifles and other firearms are world-class also! Would put them up against any other make!

I got a Steyr MA1 in 9mm and it's a nice gun. Also I wish that their bullpups were CA legit. Oh well... one can only dream.

HOW THE H**L DID YOU GET AN AUG??!!!!!!!??????????!!!!!!!!!!???????????

I wanna!!!!!!!

On a different (but similar) note, who can tell me WHY I can't get a Kel-Tec PF-9 in this friggin state???? All I know is "it's not CA legal", and that's all. One of the best, lightest, most compact 9mm pistols ever made, and I can't buy one here.

I'm seriously considering the Kel-Tec SU-16CA though, since I can't afford an AR-15 (or clone)

Also want to get something similar to the Benelli M-4 for HD as well. (LOVE that shottie!)

Ok, enough ranting for now!

Paul

They are still available. Just not imported anymore. Actually probably not even manufactured anymore since Steyr got sold out and all that good stuff. I saw an AUG maybe 6 weeks ago....in Arizona. Yes it was for sale. No you can not buy it anymore in Ca. They used to sell for under 2K. I personally don't like it that much. Now the PS 90 is sweet. The ammo is too pricey, but the rifle is bitchin.

I've had the AUG for years. Plus a Sig AMT 308, FN-FALs, FNC etc.

The Kel Tec did not pass testing for California.

Let's hear your opinion on the AUG.
A friend of mine had one of the later ones with the silly extra plastic piece connecting the pistol grip to the stock.

What the heck kind of testing do they do here, that they don't in every other state? Seems like this is the only state they are not sold.

I also love how you can take an "illegal" evil, "assault rifle" like the AR-15 or one of the myriad of clones, put a rifle stock on it (instead of a pistol grip) and magically, it becomes a legal firearm!!! Idiots!!!!! It's the same gun!!!!!!!!!

Or, even better, any of the semi-auto shotguns, with pistol grip. Add a telescoping stock to it, it magically becomes an evil "assault weapon".

We have GOT to get better legislators in office.

Mine is original. I'm not thrilled with the scope. I love the barrel change system though. 1/4 turn new barrel.

You may want to check your facts on the AR issue.

It may not be absolute, but I think the point is still valid.

I agree with your philosophy about the AW silliness, but this is not a political action board, we tend to not want to go off on rants about the AW ban, the .50 cal ban, whatever--not that we don't care, when we started this board, we just agreed to keep that stuff largely off this board, which is primarily focused on CCW in California..

Regarding the Steyr handguns, i tried Rycerz' 9mm Steyr, and liked it a lot, nice gun for a reasonable price, even if it was made mostly of recycled plastic.

so back to handguns and ccw:

Steyr just launched the second generation of the pistol you discussed. I do not remember the details, but Mass Ayoob wrote an article about the thing and pointed out all the upgrades form the previous generation. the 'old' model can be had for pennies right now. Shop around if you want one.
