I have, and like very much, a Sig 226 Navy in 9 mm. It is reliable, easy to maintain... the take down couldn't be easier... and shoots very well. I figured that if it was good enough for SEALS and SAS, it would probably be good enough for me. Moreover, it is cheap to feed. I sent it to Bruce Gray for a trigger job, and now it is as smooth as the south end of a north bound baby!
I was lucky to find a Navy model, the commemorative model with the corrosion resistance. I have many friends who have been, and are, SEALS, and it makes this gun a bit more special to me. I also have a P7M8 which is a good choice as a lefty, as well as smaller. The drawbacks are 8 round mags and the price, now $15-1600! I like the gun, but it is not economical by any means. My HD weapon is a Ruger GP100 4". I don't think that would be a good carry choice! |

I carry a Sig P232 and to describe it as Accurate & Reliable is an understatement.
I am of the opinion that if the Germans made it, it's a high quality product. Probably why I drive a German car, owned a German plane and carry two German made guns. I've also had the pleasure of shooting a variety of Sig Sauer pistols and I love them all.

I have a Sig P229 Equinox... GREAT gun!! Love it. Used it solely on a 2 day gun class last summer and shot 300 round per day. Was gonna put it on my permit but for me, it is a little big for carry.
Also borrowed/shot P239, P220 (for a few months from a friend) and rented few other Sigs... all great guns. Can't go wrong with a Sig!!

I had one of those once. I almost moved to Germany to be with him.

I have being a SIG fan for a long time. Own (including what I don't own anymore), 1x SIG P226, 4x SIG P228, 1x SIG P239, all in 9mm. However, recent incidents has my belief shaken up a bit as far as SIG goes...
Story begin when I clean my now returned and probably destroyed SIG P228 of 2004 production... I notice a line on the frame slide rail, when I took a closer look and found out it's actually a CRACK I had only about 5000 round of ammo through the gun, mostly WWB (when it was still cheap...), that really upsets me as my first P228 went through 20K before it got stolen, and my second P228 went through 30K before I decided to "retire" it. 5K is nowhere near what I expected. A quick call to SIG ARMS and almost $70 later(FedEx Priority Overnight), my 2004 P228 is being diagnose by SIG that they need to put it to sleep. So I was offered my choice of "replacements". Since P228 is no longer imported by SIG, and they didn't have a P229 in 9mm, so my choices were: CPO P229 in .40 or .357SIG CPO P226 in 9mm. I really would like to wait for a P229 in 9mm, but I guess SIG customer service's performance was evaluated by how fast they can close a case, so I was not allow to wait. Not wanting to complicate my ammo inventory, I choose P226 in 9mm. All is well now? Not quite. When I receive the replacement P226, it looked nice, a beautiful Two-Tone P226R with slide, take down lever, grip screw, slide release and trigger all nickle plated... Well, the problem is that the gun came with DAK trigger. So I call SIG again and they agree to take the gun back to convert it to DA/SA. All is well now? Nope. When I receive it back, I took it to the range and fire off 200rds of WWB that I have left; after shooting, I took the gun apart for quick clean. For those who know how SIG mag release works, there is a little detent look-alike catch to keep the mag release in place. Guess what? The hole on the frame to house mag release was cut a little too big, and the mag catch stop will only grab on part of what it should grab on, and will turn counter-clockwise until it does not grab anything anymore. So "boink" and off it went to nowhere I can find. Now the gun is back to SIG again today with them paying shipping... Interesting enough, all the problem I have are with gun that was produced post Y2K... as far as I am concern I am done with buying new SIGs for now. If I am buying anything I will look for pre 2000 in good condition. ![]() |

I must be the only person in the world who has never fired a Sig. I don't think I've ever held one, either.

I was attracted to Sig, (P220) just the way it felt in my hand. So after testing many other models I ended up with a new P220R Carry SAO .45.
I love the gun, It is very acurate and very smooth. I have run about 800 rds through it and no failures. My friend has a new P229 Equinox .40 and that is a real nice gun, I am just much more comfortable shooting .45 and I dont really like the wood grips on the Equinox.
