Default Are Glocks Unsafe?

I saw an interesting article regarding Glocks and the questions of..."are they safe?". I found this interesting since I own two Glocks myself. Some points I disagree with but, that's the fun part...agreeing to disagree....right???

I did not read the info. Did that on purpose as not to pollute or influence my opinion so what I am going to say may not be in alignment or in direct relationship the the info in the article.

Fact. Glock revolutionized the industry. Innovation!
Fact. Some hate Glock because it was developed elsewhere. Not "Made in USA"
Fact. It is polymer. Not your routine material. New things meet resistance. People dislike change!
Fact. They do not have external safety...... Oh my God!!!!! Those "J" frames do not have external safeties......no problem. Glocks.....BIG problem! Lots of BS......We still have guys here asking if it is OK to carry with one round in the chamber. Any time an AD happens....(It must be a Glock)
Solution.....they are safe as long as you do not touch the trigger! Except for that police chief....."the gun went off by itself"
Old stuff!...
I like them, they are reliable, simple to operate, simple to field strip (No tools required) accurate and reasonably priced

Yes, I agree completely with the article! All Glocks are inherently unsafe, and as a community service to all shooters, everywhere, I will take any Glock off your hands for a generous $100!!!

Let's see, I have carried 1911's and J frames Mexican style since 1969, and Glocks since 1994, so I am clearly overdue for a nut cap. What kind of stupid crap is " Glocks have too light of a trigger"? Uh, you mean compared to any good 1911? Glocks average about 5.5lbs, and a nice 1911 runs about 3.5lbs.

The author states he shot "thousands of rounds" in pistol classes, well I have shot over 250,000 rounds thru different Glocks over the last 14 years in competition! ( I shot 1911s from 1969 to 1994).

Here is the solution, surf less, shoot more.

Ditto the above posts, I have been shooting Glocks since they hit the market, 17,19,20,21,22,23,26,27,30,34,35,37, I'll pay $102.00 for any "unsafe Glock" out there. When they came out they were damned as "plastic," "combat tupperware," etc. At Gunsite, home of 1911 worship, they were bad mouthed initially, now they are the most common firearm seen, and nearly always take the Gunsite Alumni Shoots.

$103.00.
If it is a Glock 39, you don't want to shoot GAP ammo, right? Sell it to me!!

The answer to the OP is...YES!! They are unsafe. I can vouch for that. I put 250 rounds through the G27 a few weeks back and I got a blister on my trigger finger.

As someone who now carries glock as his daily wear, I agree, with exception to the comment about the JFrames...they don't have a striker that is in the "cocked" position. They are double action, glocks are not...Glocks ARE single action for all intent and purpose. Oh...and AD?

I contend that glocks, like other guns, are only as safe as the person carrying them.

My point on "J" frames was that they go off when you depress the trigger just as much as any other gun while not having an external safety, which seems to concern a certain number of shooters. Mind is the builder!!! Yeah, the safety is between your ears!!

I have been really concerned about my Glock and they way it has been acting lately. It seems that nearly every time there is a bullet in the chamber and the trigger is pressed it fires.

Do you guys think there is something that can be done? Perhaps a safety on the left side and a safety for my safety on the right?

There is a safety on the left and right side. Left index finger on the left side, right index finger on the right. Keep them in your nose and off the trigger and you'll be fine.
