Default light weight wheel guns to pocket carry

school me....

I have never owned a wheel gun (revolver) and I am looking for a COMPACT & LIGHT WEIGHT wheel gun to pocket carry in jeans and shorts.

Some days I have to leave in a hurry and I normally use my Kahr PM9 with uncle mikes pocket holster when I don't have the time to IWB my 1911. I love my Kahr PM9 but in some clothes, its just too bulky with the pocket holster.....and I want a new gun

which wheel gun do you recommend? and why?

I love my 340pd and its a few ounces less than the PM9, but I would guess/think that the PM9 is less bulky, for sure thinner.

really? I was hoping the wheel gun would be less bulky and thinner feeling to carry. Now you have me going back in circles. The PM9 is GREAT but.. i want something smaller fitting in my front pocket.

I will have to find one to test before i order one.

Any of the S&W Airlite series, I carry the 642. They are ez to pocket carry and dependable. They grow on you the more you carry them. Practice Practice Practice.

I carry a 340pd,, but I do have a crimson trace. I've been considering a pm9, so I did have both of them out on the counter....there is so little difference in them I don't know that it matters. It's a great gun though- very light & very reliable.

PM9 width .9”, 340PD width 1.25”. PM9 is less on all dimensions except weight. Personal opinion/experience with 340PD, it’s pretty controllable with .38 and +p, and with practice it’s quite accurate. With .357 it’s pretty funny, hell of an explosion, fireball, tough on follow up shots with the little Bantam grips, and it feels like someone smacked your hand with a steel pipe. Mine came with the Bantam grips, probably best for concealment and weight. Hogue Mono Grip has room for another finger and has padded blackstrap (I think this is crucial for extended .357 use), but it lowers conceal-ability. Some of the earlier ones had some frame cracks, but I’ve had no issues, and you should only shoot 120 gr or higher. Speer GD makes a great JHP in +p and .357 for the snubbies. Get one PUNK, you’ll either love it or hate it. If you hate it you should be able to get rid of it pretty easily.

The wheel part is wider than your PM9. I'll go with the I want a new gun.

If you want something smaller, lighter, less bulky than the PM9, and are willing to sacrifice a drop in firepower, check out the Kahr P380, just got CA DOJ approved.
