OMG, what went wrong! Wilson will want to go over the gun in it's factory to figure out what happened, and I'll bet they will give you a replacement for free. This is not supposed to happen with modern guns loaded with SAAMI spec factory ammo. Looks like metallurgical failure, but that shouldn't happen after a mere 2500 rounds.

Well if they don't replace it for the cop, they will be pointed to this thread and a new one that will be started on cal guns. Grass roots wins.

When I had a gun let go last year... Winchester took very good care of me..Daughter was shooting a .22 short...blew the Astra Cub into 3 parts...they offered to pay her medical bills (weren't any... she pulled the steely bits outa her nose with tweezers...tough gal my little girl!...)...sent me a check for the gun and sent me a case of ammo... mind you I no longer have a .22 short gun to shoot it in... but the thought was there...Winchester Rocks...

Did Winchester update you with the tests they did on that Astra Cub? Just curious if this was a rarity or kind of a pattern...

nope...made me sign a paper saying they don't admit culpability... I didn't have a problem with it as they were writing me a check....I did send them the rest of the brick of ammo... but first I shot one round in my k frame... it blew the case back against the recoil shield and flattened it to the size of a dime... one round piece of brass... really hot .22 short...

Bummer. Kimber barrels appear thicker than the Wilson.

Lucky it happened to him at the range and not when he actually needed it! He's MIA from here for a while. He working on his PhD now or something?
