Default Can I CCW a gun not on the CA list?

I'm sure this info is here somewhere but I couldn't find it.

I'm looking to purchase another used gun (PPT - not on the list) with the intention of adding it to my permit. This is the first time I've added one so I am just wanting to verify that "being on the list" is not a requirement for being on the CCW permit. I'm in Eldorado county.

There's no law prohibiting it but it's up to your issuing agency. Why not give them a call?

It depends on your county. Some counties do, and some don't. Call your issuing agency and ask them. El Dorado is a friendly county. I'm sure they won't mind the question.

Your best bet is to contact your local sheriff office because each county all differs on this issue.
El Dorado County Sheriff's Office
Contact the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office

I could not find anything about this on their website.

Here in Fresno the sheriff will allow non roster firearms to be listed on our permits because she recognizes that the roster is a matter of politics and not safety.

There were guns on CCW's long before there was a list. The same guys are still using the same guns.

2 of my guns are not on that list and they are perfectly fine CCW pistols.

Funny but when I ask at the SO, they don't even know about the list where I am. They also thought the permit was only good for in the county only! Hmmmm....

They also were not sure about CCW on Federal waters - (Lake Tahoe and off shore coastal) I'll post that as a separate thread...
