Fresno Rifle & Pistol Club has no problem picking up YOUR OWN brass. Scrounging is kinda frowned upon, though. But after 40 years of reloading, I have quite a stockpile.

The most money you will save is at the start by not buying junk. With that said I wont ever by another Lee product and wish I had the money I spent on it applied toward the Dillon equipment I later purchased anyway.

You posted about going to Norco for some shooting so bring all your questions and we can help direct you down the right path. There is a lot to learn but once you do it is pretty easy.

I respectfully disagree with that. I've had nothing but good experiences with Lee's products. They're well designed, functional, and cost effective.

I reload all my practice ammo and keep factory rounds in my magazines for SD. I still load on an old RCBS single stage press. Batch loading isn't the fastest way to reload, but I like the control it gives me over every lot of ammo I produce. Also a very cost effective way to reload.

I will give you one piece of advice - get yourself the book THE ABC's OF RELOADING. For the beginner it shows you how to get started without spending a fortune and it is a great resource guide of do's and don'ts. I've been reloading for a few years and I still go to this book for answers. Lee Precision and Lyman also have excellent books for learning how to reload. The one thing this book emphasizes is SAFETY, orgainization and common sense which is good.

You can buy it for under $20 at your local supplier, Borders Books, or order it from Amazon here:

When I lived in a small place (single wide mobile) I used one of the Frankford Arsenal Portable Reloading Stands. It was awesome. I had my Rockchucker and powder dump both mounted to it. Set my scales on the dinning room table, etc. When I was done, I just put it all back in the closet.

I agree. I've reloaded thousands of rounds on Lee stuff, and even though I live in RCBSville, I went with what was more economical.

I was going to recommend maybe picking up the Lee hand press (Amazon.com: Hand Press: Sports & Outdoors). I still use it sometimes as it's convenient to not have to set up my portable bench. I also take it with me camping for something to do.

If you go to the fallowing web page you can download a 41 minute movie on how to reload. It’s a little old, but it covers the subject pretty good. It free and not boring.

FYI I clicked on the website and got bombarded with malware attempting to get me to scan my computer for viruses...fortunately I'm firewalled and got away from the site without harm.

Don't download junk like that. BUY the book I posted. It's all tested and proven, and a lot of us do reloading so you have all of us as a resource too.

Thanks for the advice. I just wanted to look at the posted link, was annoyed that it was rigged with malware, and wanted to alert others.

I don't have Chevalier's book, but I've got a few dozen others on various reloading, gunsmithing, and accurizing topics, including the Sierra, Hornady, and Speer reloading manuals. I use an 30-year-old RCBS 4x4 progressive press with quite a selection of dies and shellplates that I've accumulated over the years. I like the RCBS stuff, but the 4x4 shellplates are no longer made and some are hard to find.

Sounds like you are off to a good start. as for the reloading, when in doubt, ALWAYS ask questions.

If I want to reload shotgun shotshells and handgun cartridges do I need to different progressive machines?
