3500+ rounds through my M&P40 and not one single problem to report. I believe it was the early models that had the mag problem, the current ones seem to be ok.

I think the one at Buds gunshop is a M&P .40 Compact, 12 Rounds. No mag disconnector. That by the way is one hell of a deal!.Too bad we can't have it.
If someone finds out if they have the 10 rounds mags. and magazine disconnector compact on sale, it should be good for California.
I am also waiting for the .45 Compact. The latest info is that now has been delayed until Christmas.
They have been having issues with magazines dropping out of the mag well after the gun has about 1,000 rounds through it due to the magazine ejector polymer button wearing out and also having a weak spring. This should be a parts replacement issue, no big deal.
As I am pragmatic, I like the gun but will stick with Glocks for now until they fix the mag problem.
You can't go wrong with Glocks either. I have a 1st gen Glock 23. Not to mention a Glock 36 and Glock 26.

I did rent a Glock 27 before I bought my G26. I felt the G27 was VERY snappy. Then I bought my M&P 40 Compact and felt it has similar recoil to my Glock 26 "9mm" if not less.

BTW I "think" the M&P 40C is a 10 round mag no matter what state. The M&P9C has the 12 round mag.

You can't go wrong with the Glocks. They are a little thick in the grip. But their reliablity can't be questioned one bit! Well except for my Glock 36.

BTW II, I LOVE my new Kimber 45!!! Little large for CCW but it is a beauty!! It as light as a fly but stings like a bee!!!

I have a feeling S&W is going to take a lot of Glock market share with the M&P line. Enough so that I just bought some S&W stock yesterday.

I have been tempted to buy S&W stock for some time now. They are doing very well lately. Their M&P line is very well liked by consumers.

+1 on the .45; the Glock is too blocky and I'd also like to try a S&W .45 (and I'm a Glock guy!)

I too think the M&P will take a bite out of Glock's market. WIth that said, when I got my guns inspected last week, armory staff said that OCSD is switching to Glock 22's (.40) and just bought 1900 of them.

Ineteresting on the OCSD. When I took my M&P 40C to the armory he was very interested in it. They guy who helped me carries a Glock 27 I assume off duty. Too bad they did not go with the M&P 40. S&W is starting to pick up departments all over the country.

My Glock 36 has not been terrible. But I did have 4 FTE's in the first 100 rounds. Then since averaged about 1 every 100 rounds. Pretty reliable relatively speaking. But not reliable enough IMO for CCW. Evertime I think I am going to get through 100 trouble free rounds I get a FTE. My Glock 26 and M&P 40C have each seen over 500 rounds with not one problem.

I see your point, not reliable enough for a Glock....somewhat out of character for that make.

Yeah IMO if a gun is clean and you are using quality factory ammo then you should have 99.999% reliablity. The only malfunction should be a result of an under charged round. With quality factory ammo that should be few and far between.

To be fair sub compact 45's have been a problem for a lot of manufacturers. Actually among sub compacts the G36 is probably considered pretty reliable. That and when you have other guns in your stable that have been 100% reliable. Other Glocks included, it makes you think.
