Default CA Approved Kahr P380

FYI if you were looking for one of these. I have contacted Kahr a couple of times regarding a CA approved P380. They told me they had submitted it to CA DOJ months ago and assured me it would pass. They said it was all up to CA DOJ as far as how long it would take to get it on the list. Well I really want one of these so I called CA DOJ about it. They just left me a message saying they should be looking at it next week and that if all was OK, it would be about 1 or 2 weeks before it would be put on the list. So hopefully there will be a CA DOJ approved Kahr P380 by the end of the month. Then I’ll just have to find the $$....then try to find one available…. then try to find some .380 ammo….etc.

Nice! Those things are teensy, like the size of the P3AT. I might have to look into one myself for a 'speedo' gun.

Don't these need an external safety and LCI like the 9mm model they just brought out?

Looks like the dimensions on that model are the similar to a PM9. True?

CA requires LCI (Which might be as simple as a small pinhole at the end of the chamber) and a mag disconnect. Nothing about external safety.

I believe the lack of a mag disconnect is what prevented the Kahr PM45 from approval in Cal. and might block the .380 but I'm not 100% sure.... Neat little gun so I hope it works for you!

I have now added the P45, along with my PM9 to my permit, since I couldn't get the PM45 here. The .45 replaced a heavier, stainless Kahr .40 that I used to carry & ya' gotta love a 6+1 .45 with 5th gen T's! btw, no QC issues whatsoever. That P45 has proven 100% reliable with anything I've cycled through it & it's light & accurate!

A NA .22mag with a better grip is my "speedo" gun

Doesn't the LCI also have to be visible from a certain distance? I don't "think" the pin hole deal will pass on new models.

The P250 somehow got by without much of an LCI.. Maybe they've relaxed their standards for what constitutes an LCI.

PM9 now with LCI (for MA)

I have seen 24 inches referenced. But it seems that is wrong.

device that plainly indicates that a cartridge is in the firing
chamber. A device satisfies this definition if it is readily visible,
has incorporated or adjacent explanatory text or graphics, or both,
and is designed and intended to indicate to a reasonably foreseeable
adult user of the pistol, without requiring the user to refer to a
user's manual or any other resource other than the pistol itself,
whether a cartridge is in the firing chamber.

Default Mag Disconnect?

Is that required for CAL approval? Lots of guns available in CAL can fire a chambered round without a mag in place.

For new gun approval UNLESS they qualify for some sort of an exemption. So bottom line is that if it was on the list it does not need either one but if it wasn't it should have both to get on the list.
