I have had no problems with Win White box either. I have heard the ammo is on the "shoots dirty" side but never had any problems.
Your glock will prolly chew through just about anything. And hit the OC gun show this weekend and stock up before the prices go up in September as stated. |

My Glock 27 and it's big brother the G22 eat the Winchester Target Ammo (white box) like candy. I'm over 1500 rounds through the G22 and about 600 through the 27 with zero feed or eject issues.
Out of the 1600 so rounds shot, I have experienced two "light" loads... instead of a bang, I got a pop and from the looks of the the holes in the target the bullets were tumbling when it punched through. Otherwise the Winchester Target ammo has been great. For carry/self defense I have the Winchester Ranger ammo buba mentioned above loaded in the mags.

Why is the price going up?

I likewise have had good experiences with Winchester White Box (WWB) Ammunition. I have used it in various calibers through a large number of different firearms with only one notable negative experience.
This was with .38 Special, 158 grain, LRN ammunition. It appeared to be a quality control issue limited to one lot. 4 cartridges out of a box of 50 did not have the case mouths adequately crimped. The case mouths were too "open" to allow feeding in any my J-Frames. I was also able to pull the bullets by hand without the use of a bullet puller. Recently, I have been using WWB .45 ACP 230 Grain FMJ and 230 Grain JHP ammunition to break in my new Kimber with not malfunctions or QC issues at all. Other than the incident noted above, I have been quite satisfied with WWB. Thanks, |

Here is an AP article that discusses the reasons in detail: My Way News - Ammunition Shortage Squeezes Police
At least they are going to increase production capacity now, it seems to me they should have done it sooner. Bob |

Here is what I swear by (and in this order, although I am equally comfortable with any of these):
Speer GD 155 gr. Corbon 135 gr. JHP Corbon 150 gr. JHP Speer GD 165 gr. Corbon 165 gr. JHP I personally think they don't get any better than these. I stay away from just about all 180's due to over-penetration issues. I'd change caliber berfore using any of the "tactical" low-speed loads--for the same reason. Remington Golden Sabre 165's are supposed to be Top Dogs also.

All of my defensive ammo is Ranger or Federal HST. The LEO-marketed stuff is cheaper... 50 rounds for the price of 20 comparable rounds at a gun shop. I can afford to practice with it occasionally.
I buy WWB in 9mm for practice, and in .45 I reload. When I get sick of reloading, I buy a case or two of Federal AE online (cheapest quality stuff, cheaper than WWB at Wal-Mart) and shoot that. Save all the brass, throw away all my old brass, load all the once-fired AE brass. I don't shoot .45 as often anymore because of the price. When it was $22 for 100 rounds of WWB at Wal-Mart, I shot .45 much more often. Now, I shoot a couple hundred rounds every month or two. |

180 Grain is the best bullet weight. HST or "T" are the best.
