I've used the Win Sub sonic a few times. Won't cycle after 5 rounds on my 10/22 but cycles fine in my GSG-5. Noise is about the same as hitting a hammer on concrete or dropping a piece of metal on the floor. Not that loud at all. I don't even use ear protection with the sub sonic.

I live in a semi rural area, pine forest. I watched one from my upper deck, I happened to walk out bare feet, so no noise. The little guy was sweeping my back yard in a slow deliberate pattern. I have a tree we had to cut down due to bark beetle damage, it is now a hollow tree stump, cavity in the center, it stuck its head in it, it was kind of a curious animal to watch, I was very still so it never detected me.
These little SOBs will attack you and shred you to pieces, they are brazen! So do not ***** foot with them if you engage them, you know what you have to do!

I use a Mossberg M-44 with a barrel about a month long and about an inch wide... old WWII model I got from the CMP... with CCI CB caps you can hear the firing pin hitting and then the bullet slap when it strikes the "target"...the squirrels and rats in the backyard are good to go... son used it to kill a 'possum the dogs had cornered... now we are careful to take head shots... we live where the sound of even a pellet gun could be ackward to explain.. but have a canal behind the yard and about 100 yards to the nearest neighbor which is an industrial strip between me and the river bed...we get lots of wildlife...the dogs have a taste for crawdad now too and the muskrats can be irritating and will fight the dogs... now if I only it wasn't illegal to shoot geese with a pellet gun or my mossy...but anyway... enjoy the coon hunt..that's one problem we haven't had...

That has been my experience with the 10/22. Not enough oomph to cycle the weapon. Not a problem in the single shot 22. In fact it doesn't sound much louder than a pellet gun.

I just tried the Rem subsonic hollowpoints last night in my Ruger MKI 5" bull barrel. I figured they would not cycle it but they were flawless. Another guy at the range had a brand new MKIII and he ran some through it without any failures too. Very quiet compared to reg .22 ammo.

I have a Mk I with a 6" barrel but never tried them in it. I used them in a Remington Nylon 66 .22 rifle with a 20"barrel and they cycle fine and is actually low enough noise you do not need earplugs. BUT...has anyone else noticed when using these subsonic rounds that they burn very dirty and foul after about 20 rounds or so?

Lately I went back to using Stingers since I need something reliable with good penetration on a head shot. They are LOUD but fire 100% of the time. So far I had 3 duds in one box of subsonic rounds which is a problem for my use.
