If I spent $65 a box, there better be a LOT of rounds in that box. 'Nuf said.

I've been using Hydra-shoks for the last 3 years. Time to buy a fresh box, but haven't seen any lately. I've been seeing mixed responses on the extreme shocks.
Based on the cheesy ninjas they have on their website is enough for me to stick with the hydra-shok. |

For those familiar with The Box O' Truth website, they tested Extreme Shock ammo against Ranger SXT ammo.

One look at the mall ninja's on the packaging would be enough to prevent me from buying this ammo. Even if it were good. At $65/20 I find the results from the Box o Truth to be laughable.

Advertising hype. Not worth the money. Gold Dots or HST's or almost any modern hollow point will be at least as effective at 1/3 the price.
There is no such thing as a "magic bullet" that will alway instantly incapacitate a human. It's been shown over and over that shot placement is far more important than the bullet used. You should practice with what you carry for self defense, and at those prices, I couldn't afford to practice much. +1 on the box O' truth tests. While not a true scientific test, it gives a good idea of what to expect from a bullet. |

No experience with extreme shock, but I have had experience with "counter sniper scopes" it is a sister company to the extreme shock, owned and operated by the same person Frank Miller. If these rounds are anything like that dang scope I had, just send my the $65 and ill make sure I put it to good use. It was the CRAPPIEST scope I have ever looked through hands down! So I wouldnt expect anything more out of their ammo.
Just my 2 cents |

Over penetration is not a problem with modern handgun ammo our law enforcement agencies issue and use. Even if a round missed it's intended target or over penetrated, a single bullet hole in an airliner's skin would not normally be a catastrophic event. Certainly not nearly as catastrophic as a hijacker flying the jet into a skyscraper full of people. These specialty ammo manufactures have been making their claims for a long time but I don't know of any American law enforcement agencies that use their ammo. Stick with modern hollowpoint ammo from Winchester, Federal, Speer, Remington or Hornady. That's what the vast majority of our LE agencies use. ![]()

All very good points. Boxotruth was also very definitive. I was just curious about their claims. The materials (Tungsten-NyTrilium) they claim to have inside the bullets I don't think even exist. Not on this planet anyways. Maybe it comes from the same place where they got their mall ninjas.

Tungsten-NyTrilium...I googled it. NO such alloy. Seems like a made up name for what is actually an inconsistent brittle metal used for the core of Extreme Shock's ammo that sounds fancy to make people go "OOH!". To me it looks like small metallic pellets packed in a binding agent like mild epoxy or plastic.
Until it can be shown to be something real, I will regard it kind of like the ShamWow - "Wow! what a sham!" For the nosy ones - Consumer Reports' ShamWow: Wow or sham?
