It's on order. Should have it in a couple of weeks which will work nicely with my current 30 day window. Oh the life of a GS! LOL

Add my name to the Kimber Fan Club. Picked up a UCP II from A Guy and like it a lot. Small package and lots of horsepower makes it hard not to like.

Oh, and another name to add... OC Staff at the OCSO Range. I did the safety inspection today and OC Staff jokingly (I think he was joking) told me the two Glocks were fine but he was confiscating the Kimber... He's a big fan of the brand.

A little excited maybe? I think what you got was a Ultra CDP II. That's what most people get that CCW.

Default Finally made it to the range today!!!

Business commitments have kept me busy recently, however I finally made it to the range today with my new Kimber Stainless Ultra Carry II.

I had very high expectations for this pistol and it more than lived up to them!!!

I fired over 300 rounds, predominantly 230 grain FMJ, however I also had a couple different brands of 230 grain Hollow Points as well as some Federal 185 Grain +p Hollow Points. I used predominantly inexpensive ammunition. I did not, however, use any "Cheap, bargain basement or reloaded" ammunition.

I fired at a variety of distances, from 3 to 25 yards, with most shooting done at 15 yards.

I have ordered some Wilson Combat 47OX magazines, however, they have not arrived yet. In addition to the OEM magazine supplied with weapon, I pick up 2 Kimber KimPro Tac-Mag magazines, a 7 round compact and an 8 round fullsize. I had zero malfunctions regardless of the ammunition or the magazine being used.

The 230 grain FMJs printed a little to the left at 15 yards, however, Winchester White Box 230 Grain Hollow Points printed exactly at point of aim. The Federal 185 Grain +P Hollowpoints printed slightly below point of aim.

Group sizes varied from around 2 1/2 inches to over 4 inches at 15 Yards with an average aggregate group size of approximately 3 inches. I am quite sure that, with more quality time with the weapon I will easily shink these groups to something worth talking about. Accuracy out of the 3 inch barrel was definately on par with most of the full size pistols I have used in the past and exceeded many of them.

I am still "breaking in" the pistol, however, I developed a high enough comfort level with the pistol today that I will be making an appointment shortly to qualify with it and have it replace the full size S&W 1006 currently on my CCW.

I will keep you all appraised of follow-on range and carry experiences with the pistol and I am happy to be a new member of "Club Kimber".

Thanks again,

I went back to the range today and put about 200 more rounds through the Ultra Carry.

As before I used inexpensive commercial ammunition, Federal American Eagle, Wichester White Box and PMC Bronze all in 230 grain FMJ. I also put some more Winchester White Box 230 Grain Hollow Points through it as well.

I fired exclusively from 15 yards today and concentrated more on trigger control and sight picture than I did previously. As expected all my groups shrunk by about half an inch. My groups also appeared to be more centered around point of aim than they were previously.

As before I had zero malfunctions regardless of ammunition or magazine used.

Being that the Stainless Ultra Carry II is a general production gun rather than a Custom Shop gun like the CDPs I suspect that the overall tolerances were a little looser than those on a CDP. I believe this contributed to the lack of malfunctions and how quickly the pistol "Broke in". I would appreciate anyone who is more knowledgable and experienced regarding Kimber pistols confirming or correcting this assessment.

I have a very high comfort level with this pistol and will definately be making an appointment to qualify with it and have it placed on my CCW as soon as possible.

Thanks again,

You are correct, yours is a production gun, no break in needed. The custom shop guns are hand fitted, you need to break them in.

Default Put the Ultra Carry on my CCW today!!!

I have been to the range a few times since my last post and have over 1000 rounds through the weapon at this point. I had two malfunctions total, both due to no fault of the weapon. I rode the slide forward rather than let it go into battery on it's own the first time and I failed to fully seat the magazine the second time.

I have also done quite a bit of shooting at 25 yards, both 1 and 2 handed standing and off the bench. My groups have shrunk to around 3 inches standing and 2 inches off the bench at 25 yards. This pistol is definately as accurate as most full size pistols I have used in the past and more so than many (assuming I do my part).

I took my 16 year old daughter to the range a couple times and she had no trouble keeping her rounds within an 8 inch circle at 15 Yards. She did have some difficulty pulling the slide back and the manual of arms is still something she needs to work on.

Another welcome change that may come out of this is that my wife may decide to come shooting with me more often. She may like the Ultra Carry so much that she wants it for herself and I will be "Forced" to buy another one for myself. "As painfull as it may be, we all have to make sacrifices for our family on occasion".

Thanks,
