The club's website is back up and I'm told that the cafe is open for Saturday and Sunday breakfast and Wednesday for dinner. I've traded emails with the webmaster and he says they are trying to reopen but the loss in court was a shocker and the club is doing what it can. Remember it's a not for profit club and not a business and the club has limited resources. I'm told that if they are allowed to reopen that the rifle range will have to be covered and the shotgun ranges moved to the other side of the property.

From Shooting Wire:
One of the oldest public shooting facilities in California, the Inland Fish and Game Conservation Association shooting range in Highland, has closed due to a lawsuit filed by a developer who owns an adjacent property. The 1,400 member range was one of the last open-air ranges for rifle, pistol and shotgun and has served tens of thousands of shooters in the past few years.

The lawsuit was filed in 2007 by Highland Fifth-Orange Partners LLC of Santa Ana, headed up by developer Hal Woods. Judge Christopher Warren of the Superior Court of San Bernardino issued a ruling on Monday, July 27, against the shooting facility and the gates were rolled closed at the end of the day on Wednesday, July 29. The club was assessed $1.4 million in damages, and it has spent (or its insurance carriers have spent) about $1 million in attorney fees since the beginning of the problems with the "new" neighbor.

The 64-year old club was located on 40 acres of Bureau of Land Management property. Citing an excellent record on safety and serving the public, the BLM granted a 20-year lease extension in 2004. Club officials say they're looking at alternative sites, but that's not much consolation to area shooters.

Default New Grips & Trigger

My hands are a bit on the small side and my fingers are a bit stubby so I've made some changes to my new Kimber. First I installed an STI short trigger. I've always used Cylinder & Slide short triggers in the past but this time I wanted pretravel adjustment tabs and that left STI as the only brand that I could find. Then I swapped in a set of Esmeralda's slim grips in Cocobolo. If you're not familiar with her work you've missed out. When you go to her site you don't pick a style of grip - you pick out the exact pair that you want. The ones that I picked out are a bit lighter and redder in color than the stock Kimber grips and the detail work is exactly what I was looking for.

Sorry about the poor lighting I'm still getting that sorted out but the little Kimber fits my hand 100% better now.

After

I use her slim grips as well and love them.
