This thread reminded me of my AMT .380 Backup. I've owned it for ~25 years and it is listed on my CCW, but I can't remember the last time I carried it.

It is a small stainless-steel auto with a palm grip safety. Pretty good little gun in it's day, but it's just too heavy now. Small and heavy.

Arcadia Machine & Tool is long gone. Was mostly known for it's .45 Hardballer. Many owners complained about jamming and frequent problems. I guess I got lucky in that mine is rock solid and has always been reliable.

In a world of lightweight plastic 9 mm carry guns, the .380 just isn't worth carrying to me, even as a backup.

I had a Colt Mustang several years back and it was a great little .380ACP.

I highly recommend it, along with the Kel-Tec P-3AT.

The Colt has been discontinued and the Kel-Tec is not on the approved list, so you'll have to look in the used CA handgun market to find a Mustang or P-3AT.

Colt goverments, plus II's and mustangs are around in state. I have a nice supply of extra's of those in case I want to change mine out. Blue, stainless and nickel, I started hording them when the union won the court case against Colt. The handwriting was on the wall. I wouldn't want to run out of parts. That was over 10 years before the CA approved law came out.

You can never have to many "O" frames.

The Kahr PM9 and PM40 are smaller than many .380s and have a lot more firepower. I've upgraded to a Glock 27 for my primary carry gun but when I need something really small I'll take my PM9 with 7 rounds of 9mm CorBon +P over any .380!!!
