Anyone know if this is approved in California?

You are most welcome! Have you contacted Taurus and asked if they plan to submit it?

I saw this a while back, since I have a .45 Taurus and I'm on there website a bunch. I figured the Judge would be considered a short barrel shotgun and not legal in CA, but I read somewhere recenlty that because the barrel is rifled, it doesn't fall under the short barrel shotgun classification.

Here's an interesting link:

It can never be approved. By California Penal Code it is a short barreled shotgun. It accepts shotguns shells. The same goes for the Derringer, in 45/410.

To answer the next question, because it is a rifled barrel, the feds do not consider it a shotgun. IF the barrel was smooth bore, the feds would.
