Word on Calguns is that Utah CCWs will be honored by Nevada as of October 1, 2007.

Nevada Reciprocity, SB 237 - Calguns.net

Posted on Calguns by Glockman19:

I spoke with Frank the president of the Nevada Sheriff's and Chief's Association and he said that UTAH was on the list of states CCW that would be honored as of October 1, 2007. It is NOT true reciprocity as they are not signing reciprocity agreements with the states but they will be honored.

We'll have to see if it is Utah resident only, or all Utah CCWs. Sounds good so far though.

That would be great news.

Great news! That might be motivation for me to visit Nevada, been over 20 years since I have been there, I think it might have changed a bit since then. I've got the Utah permit.

"We are currently processing concealed permit applications for out-of-state residents received on May 7, 2007"

I sent mine in during May, my check was cashed June 16th which is what they consider to be my application received date.

It doesn't say "residents of these states holding valid permits". Are we still waiting to hear whether or not non-resident holders are included?

I just spoke to a Lt. Johnson of the Nevada Department of Public Safety. She was of the opinion that Nevada would recognize the Utah permit for Utah residents only.

She did say she would confirm and get back to me.

The current law on the books in Nevada does not mention residents or non. It only says CCW's issued. It would be very interesting from them to say non-residence are not allowed. That is not mention in the law. That would be a very short court case.

Lt Johnson called back and ask me to contact a Frank Adams for a final answer to this concern.

I just spoke to Frank who confirmed positively that Nevada will recognize all Utah permits held by both residents and non residents.

That makes perfect sense. The law did not address that. It was about the database and training.

I've printed off a copy of their page and added it to my traveling collection. Thanks.
