Public Records
The older folks out there remember that in the late 70's, 6 a major OC newspaper printed in thier newspaper the names of all holders of concealed weapons permits. Well, when applying for my permit I asked if there was any requests for public records regarding this and the comment was "there is something going on in LA, there was no elaboration.

I might finaly make the LA Times.
 All seriousness. That is not good, though I always knew it was a possibility. The OCSD was real up front that the information is subject to the freedom of information act. That happened in Virgina right before the VT massacre. Local paper posted the data base on their website and directed people to it via an article in the paper. Comparing CCW holders to child molesters that need their names posted for the safety of the public. They posted names and address of all holders including judges and even battered women who were in hiding. Maybe they are just trying to figure out what famous people hold them.
