Default Nevada CCW Permit

Hi guys!

Good news I obtained a Nevada Concealed Weapon Permit!

I am now looking forward to seeing Florida Concealed Weapon Permit, they were processing my paperwork since couple of weeks and so on. Hopefully approved ccw permit.

That is good news indeed. Where did you go to get the classes and qualify? And how long did it take to get from class to hard permit?

Thanks for the link, it says Las Vegas. So did you have to register your pistols that you qualified with? Could you post your experience for members who may be interested in a Nevada CCW?

Ha! I took the class and applied in July, got it in the mail roughly 60 days later. And of course, while I'm waiting I find out about NV honoring the Utah permit now.

That's my luck.

Default Florida CCW permits are good in Nevada also

Nevada just added Florida to the list of states they will honor a few weeks ago. It is posted on both states websites.

I got mine several years ago in Reno. Pretty much a three day process, drive up one day, take an 8 hour class (includeing qualitication) on the second day, go to the sheriff's office on the third day and drive home. In NV you need to qualify with each gun that you want on your permit, not sure if there is a limit, but there is room for 18 guns on the back of the permit. On your certificate the instructer will put the make, model and Cal. of what you qualified with, that's all the info that the sheriff needs, unless it's in Clark Co. Qualification consists of 30 rounds (five reloads of six rounds each), if you have a wheel gun that only takes five rounds then it is 25 rounds,(five reloads of five rounds eacy). You shoot at a full sillouette target at 25 feet and you need a score of 210 for 30 rounds, you can almost do that with your eyes closed. One thing that you need to be aware of in the Reno area, there are no inside ranges, all qualification is done on open land in the hills, time it so the weather is nice. Most instructers in NV can give you the paper work for UT and FL at the same time. You can get extra fingerprint cards from the SO that you can send in with UT and FL paperwork. It takes between 60-90 days to get the permit. The SO's office in Reno is fairly busy and you could be waiting a long time, but there is a Mt. Rose substation near North Shore that is pretty much in and out.

Clark Co. is a bit different, I think that you still need to register all of your guns prior to taking the class so you would need to get there early enough the day before the class to get them registered.

Agree, I was just replying to the request of what a NV experience was like. But since I do spend a lot more time in NV than the other states, I tink that I'll keep my NV permit up to date just to avoid issues.

I am back and would like to share with my experience on this post. Last November 2007, on Saturday early morning I drove up to the Clark County Sheriff to register the blue card for each gun, and then I went to the Shooting range with mine qualify each gun. I shoot at a silhouette target at 10 and 25 feet for 50 rounds each gun to pass the scores. After that, I took an 8-hour class and written test to pass the test. Saturday night, I went back to the hotel and get some rest. Sunday all day I have free time to cruise around Las Vegas. Then next Monday morning I went to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the ccw paperwork. I do fingerprint and picture for about 45 minutes. If you want to get a Florida ccw permit, you can ask for make another the blue card fingerprint it costs $10.00. So you can mail the Certificate Firearm Training, fingerprint card, Florida application, proof of gas or electric bill with full name and address, and pay fee $117. I received Nevada permits it is pretty fast than 90 days. Florida is still processing my paperwork since December to now, hopefully obtains a Florida ccw permit.

Anyone know why Nevada won't honor the Colo permit & vise versa? Utah does.

Ask your Legislature why Colorado won't honor CCWs from other states... It's been a while since I've read about this, but within the past couple of years, Colorado changed it's rules about what it honors and does not honor. That may be the issue.
