News: Laguna Beach cleared of criminal action in shooting incident at Montage Resort | police, officers, department, ccix, officer - OCRegister.com

Some who knew Ramos spoke of his professionalism and voiced surprise that he or Farris could have fired too soon.

Greg Block, a firearms expert with the state who trained Ramos, described him as a “very good, caring officer with a calm, methodical demeanor.”

Block says the fact that both Ramos, the patrol supervisor, and Farris, the younger officer, came to the same decision bodes well for the investigation.

“They came to the same decision at the same time – that adds validity to it,” he said. “One officer has more than 20 years of experience and the other has three or four years. If one had elected to hold fire and one had fired, we could look at the decision based on the amount of years on the street and the person’s training. Here we have just the opposite. They both came to the same conclusion at the same time.”

That is very cool! Good job to CCWI!!! Nice quote and sounds like the paper even got it right.

I had seen the article in the paper edition of the Register. But never went past the headline as I 100% agreed on the decision.

Lesson...don't point guns at police or innocent people. When police tell you to drop gun LISTEN and drop gun!!

Very strange story to begin with.

Thanks for posting GS.

Hey, our resident "expert" made the papers (again).
Geez... Is there any one Instructor more connected then Greg Block?
(I Don't think so.)

We're lucky to have him helping us.

Hmm. Let's see... where did I put that thing?

Besides, it doesn't say "To Rico, All my best."
