I did not list any particular weapon on my CCW application. You are right that I have to give Melissa the particulars to type onto my permit. That is why I have to decide on a gun and get it ordered and qualify on it and get it inspected before I pick up my permit. Melissa emailed me to let me know that I have cleared DOJ and I can come in anytime to get my permit. (as long as I have proof of completion of class with qualification signed off for whatever I list on my permit and the inspection)

Got it. Thanks for clarifying.

She did take the class. She just needs to qualify with her own gun. I provide one the first. The whole world supplied with a few on her last night.

She was suppose to show up and shoot a CDP and Ultra carry last night. Oh well. . . .

Congratulations! The overly conscious part is normal. It will go away as you get more used to carrying. Everyone thinks that everyone else will be able to tell. They can't. Just try to resist the urge to constantly check/adjust your firearm.

Oh, and now you have to go to Walmart and buy nachos.

It's a tradition that dates back hundreds of years. Maybe hundreds of weeks. Hundreds of days for sure.

Once you get your CCW, you will - inevitably - have your first trip "out" while carrying.

WalMart has the best price anywhere on Winchester Value-Pack ("White Box," also known as WWB) practice ammo. So the tradition is that your first trip out is to WalMart, to buy practice ammo. At some point buying WalMart Nachos got added to the tradition.

If you're hard core, you get your permit at the desk, go out to your car, take your pistol out of your Center of Mass storage box (stowed under your seat and secured to the car by a cable), load it, holster it, and drive to WalMart.

I didn't follow the tradition. My first outing was with my wife to Lamaze class.

And you live in LA County?!

Good Job, Diamond Jim. Did CCWI tell you "Hey, watch me pull a rabbit outta my hat!"

You've beat the odds, welcome aboard.

Have you been to Wal*Mart lately?
