Default El Dorado County Sheriff Candidates CCW Forum

For Immediate Release
July 30, 2009

Contact- John Bailey
(530) 748-9980

Sheriff Candidates to Discuss Carry Concealed Weapons License at Forum

Placerville- The seven Sheriff candidates for El Dorado County will participate in a Carry Concealed Weapons (CCW) License Forum on August 27, 2009. The forum, hosted by the El Dorado County Republican Central Committee, will be moderated by Assemblyman Ted Gaines and is open to the public.
CCW licenses are distributed at the discretion of the Sheriff and each county in the state of California can have differing policies. Recently the El Dorado County policy on CCW licenses was modified making it more difficult for some to receive the licenses.
“I believe this is an important issue in our county, “said Republican Central Committee Chair Ken Steers. “Being able to host the candidates and have them answer questions from the public will allow the community a better understanding of where each candidate stands on the issue.”
The event will be held in the Marshall Building at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Doors will open at 6:00 PM, and the forum will start at 6:30 PM.
The CCW forum will mark the second time all the candidates will speak to the public in a group setting. The candidates include John D’Agostini of Mount Aukum, Larry Hennick of Pollock Pines, Ernest “Ernie” Hillman of Kelsey, Robert “Bob” Luca of El Dorado Hills, George Nielson of Camino, Stan Perez of El Dorado Hills, and Craig Therkildsen of Placerville.
If you wish to submit questions for the candidates in advance of the forum, email John Bailey at JRB.IN.ENTERPRISES@gmail.com. Questions will be directed to all candidates.

For all El Dorado County Forum Members: If you can go, you really, really should go to this and hear what they have to say. This really can impact your CCW. El Dorado County had a pretty easy time with CCW's, and only recently started tightening things up. You will want to know who has your CCW interests at heart while doing the best possible job for your County.

Bump for the info! Thanks, 1B for bringing this to our attention.

Absolutely! It does no good to come here and complain if you don't take action when an opportunity like this is given to you. If you don't go to this, you have no excuse.

Unfortunately I'm one of the EDC residents who can't make that date/time for the forum. I'd appreciate a summary post of the forum and what the candidates said if anyone is willing to write one up.

Having the opportunity to turn around the CCW policy in your county could be a huge benefit.

Default CCW Forum mentioned at Friends of Nra

I spoke to candidates John D’Agostini of Mount Aukum and Stan Perez of El Dorado Hills at the Friends of the NRA Dinner in Folsom this last Friday. Both looked for suport for their pro 2A stance. John has always been pro CCW and is an avid enthusiast. Interesting that Stan Perez personally brought up the issue and stated will make Good Cause in the county as easy as Self Protection.
Bob Luca donated some carved decoys for auction as well.

The CCW and 2A has made it into the race but a show of interest for the Cadidates Forum on the 27th is really needed to gain momentum into the race to avoid the "Window Dressing" talk to avoid scrutiny during the race. We need level headed mainstream residents of El Dorado County to attend the forum to avoid being marginalized as a non-issue. Also a chance to meet the candidates who will lead a the Sheriff's Office in a Geographicaly large county during tough times.

I made one phone call and send a e-mail to another person, some of the background information is way wrong! They need to get their act together up there.

I'll be there come hell or high water. I just hope that this was made very public through the local news. This is extremely important to so many citizens it should be a high turn out of people. If not, I will know that somehow they managed to keep this on the DL.

Is there any way we can find out from your contacts if the freinds on the NRA dinner organizers approached all the canidates and only those two accepted?? If thats the case, that speaks volumes about who is truly pro-a2 and CCW and it should be brought up on canidates night. I have a feeling I am being ok-doked by a canidate who claims to be pro-CCW who really isn't.

Don't be too hasty. One person can only be in one place at one time. Schedules fill up and maybe another candidate simply couldn't make it to the dinner. OTOH, one who attended may have only done so for political gain and really believes in a very limited issuance policy. IOW, don't let attendance or non-attendance of the dinner be your determining factor either way.

+1 Politics bring people out for things they don't neccesarily believe in.

I sent a question suggestion to the moderator. Something to the effect of having them demonstrate their pro-2A/CCW issuance through previous actions or policies. Actions speak louder than words.
